What is The Ocean Cleanup and what does it do?

The Ocean Cleanup is a non-profit organization dedicated to developing advanced technologies to rid the world's oceans of plastic pollution. Founded in 2013 by Boyan Slat, the organization focuses on both cleaning up existing plastic in oceans, especially in areas like the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, and preventing plastic from entering the ocean through river interception systems. Their innovative solutions include large floating barriers and river cleanup devices called Interceptors. The Ocean Cleanup combines science, engineering, and field operations to address the global plastic pollution crisis.

What are some of the unique challenges faced by team members working at The Ocean Cleanup, and how is collaboration structured to address them?

Team members at The Ocean Cleanup often face challenges such as working in remote, marine environments and adapting to rapidly changing weather and ocean conditions. Job description

Job Type
Full-time
Description
Position: Producer & Project Manager, Content
Location: Boca Raton, Florida (On-Site Only)
About Us:
4ocean is on a mission to end the ocean plastic crisis and we are looking for passionate, talented people to help us achieve this goal. We are more than just a brand/company/employer. We are a global movement committed to making a tangible difference in the health of our planet by removing plastic waste from the ocean and coastlines. We also advocate for sustainable change. If you are driven by purpose, motivated to contribute to a cause that truly matters, and eager to make a lasting impact on the environment, we want you on our team.
About the Role
4ocean moves fast. We produce content across brand, partnerships, e-commerce, and foundation -and we need someone who makes sure none of it falls through the cracks. This is an operations and coordination role, not a content creation role. You're the person who shows up to the shoot with the shot list, makes sure the right gear is in the truck, and ensures every piece of content that comes out of that shoot ends up in the right hands, on the right platform, at the right time. You'll sit at the center of our content team -managing production flow, trafficking creative requests, coordinating with partners, and keeping the calendar tight.
What You'll Own
Content Production Coordination
  • Oversee and manage a team of internal and external content creators, ensuring all content aligns with the original creative brief and objectives provided by the Product, Partnerships, and Brand verticals.
  • Responsible for assigning briefs, managing deliverables and timelines, providing creative feedback, maintaining quality control, and holding creators accountable to ensure final content meets brand standards and intended goals.
  • Be present on shoots and productions to ensure shot lists are followed and business needs are captured
  • Brief creators and editors with clear direction -what's needed, why it matters, where it's going
  • Translate partner and product requirements into actionable content direction
  • Keep a close pulse on what's in production, what's in review, and what's ready to publish

Traffic Management
  • Own the intake and routing of all creative requests
  • Match content needs to the right creator or editor based on skill set and bandwidth
  • Manage timelines, priorities, and handoffs across the team
  • Prevent bottlenecks and keep output moving

Content Calendar & Distribution
  • Manage the master content calendar across brand, partnerships, e-commerce, and foundation
  • Ensure content gets created and actually used -distributed to internal and external partners as needed
  • Maintain organized content libraries and assets

Partner Coordination
  • Work with the account management team to understand partner deliverables and deadlines
  • Ensure partner content requirements are clearly communicated to creators
  • Join partner calls when needed to align on direction and expectations

Growth Opportunity
This role will work closely with Alex (CEO) and play a key part in building 4ocean's content engine. There is strong opportunity for growth as the team expands, including the potential to take on a larger leadership role within the social and content organization over time.
Final Note
If you're looking to just "manage social media," this is not that role. This role is for someone who thrives in structure, speed, and execution. If you love organizing chaos, directing teams, and making sure things actually get done, you'll do well here.
Requirements
You're a Fit If You
  • Are obsessive about organization and never drop a ball
  • Can communicate clearly and confidently with creators, editors, and external partners
  • Thrive in a fast-moving environment where priorities shift
  • Have experience in content production, project management, or creative operations
  • Know how to read a room on set and keep production on track
  • Are comfortable in both a spreadsheet and a production environment

Nice to Have
  • Experience with project management tools (Asana, Monday, Notion, or similar)
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and scheduling tools
  • Background in media, agency, or in-house content teams

It's also super important that all 4ocean crew members naturally live and embrace our core values:
  • Ocean first
  • Get Shit Done!
  • Accelerate time
  • We're in this together
  • Nudge don't judge
  • Stay stoked
  • Think bigger!

Why 4ocean?
Love what you do:
  • Build the operational backbone of the ocean-cleanup infrastructure that brands around the world will plug into

Love why you do it:
  • Your systems directly enable millions of pounds of plastic to be pulled from the ocean every year
  • Shape how a mission-driven company scales into a category-defining B2B platform
  • Knowing that your operational excellence powers environmental impact at scale

Love who you do it with:
  • Work cross-functionally with cleanup crews, creative teams, account directors, and C-suite leaders

And then there's....
  • Competitive comp (base + performance bonus)
  • Comprehensive health benefits and a 401k plan
  • Flexibility - remote work and + flexible PTO
  • Holidays! So many holidays (well above the industry average)

4ocean is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.
