Join our team as a Sales Manager at the Embassy Suites!

The Embassy Suites in Rockford is looking for a full time, energetic Sales Manager who is committed to providing first class service as part of our collaborative team.

As the Sales Manager on our team, you will complete a variety of tasks which will include:

  • Work closely with Director of Sales to maximize revenue and total occupancy.

  • Self-driven and knowledgeable individual that knows the market.

  • Responsible for hotel room sales, banquet and meeting room revenue and accountable to a market performance and meeting budget, forecast, and optimal business mix targets.

  • Actively seek new business using marketing campaigns, telemarketing, e-commerce, site visits and other methods.

  • Actively participate in meetings with corporate and leisure clients, provide site tours and build rapport.

  • Negotiate corporate discounted rates based on volume, availability and other pre-determined factors.

  • Initiate solicitation efforts of the sales function through effective oral and written communication while overseeing rate, date and space commitments for group room sales within the hotel.

  • Quote group rates, prepare group contracts and delegate front desk staff / groups coordinator to enter block into RDP.

  • Quote extended stay reservations and communicate reservation details to front desk and management team.

  • Compile and/or direct the preparation of reports pertaining to the operation of the Sales function to include, but not limited to the annual and monthly forecast, lead and productivity, function calendars, group booking pace report, STAR reports and sales meeting minutes when applicable.

  • Ongoing research of the travel industry to detect market trends and related information for development of new marketing strategies.

  • Develop and conduct persuasive verbal sales presentations to prospective clients.

  • Develop rates, group sales and catering deployment strategies through review of competitive data, demand analysis and mix management.

  • Professionally represent the hotel in community and industry organizations and events.


The position is ideal for someone with the following experience and qualities:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field, or equivalent education and experience.

  • Sales experience in a hotel of similar level required.

  • May work weekends, some nights and holidays.

  • Positive, team focused, guest service centered leadership attitude.

  • Knowledge of travel industry, current market trends and economic factors.
