Job description

The Engineer at the Embassy Suites within the Cavalier Resort plays a vital role in maintaining the safety, functionality, and overall guest experience of the property. This position ensures that all building systems, equipment, and guestโ€facing areas operate at peak performance. The ideal candidate is a handsโ€on problem solver with strong technical skills, a commitment to hospitality, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative engineering team.


Key Responsibilities

  • Facility Maintenance โ€” Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and lifeโ€safety systems to ensure optimal operation.
  • Guest Service Support โ€” Respond promptly and professionally to guest requests and maintenance issues, ensuring minimal disruption and maximum satisfaction.
  • Equipment Repair โ€” Diagnose and repair equipment such as pumps, motors, kitchen appliances, lighting systems, and building controls.
  • Safety Compliance โ€” Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA standards, fire codes, and resort safety protocols.
  • Preventative Programs โ€” Participate in scheduled preventative maintenance programs to extend equipment life and reduce downtime.
  • Resort Grounds Support โ€” Assist with upkeep of exterior areas, including lighting, walkways, signage, and seasonal needs.
  • Team Collaboration โ€” Work closely with the Director of Engineering and fellow engineers to support resortโ€wide initiatives and special projects.
  • Emergency Response โ€” Respond to urgent maintenance situations, alarms, and system failures with calm, efficient action.


Qualifications

  • Technical Experience โ€” 1โ€“3 years of engineering, maintenance, or facilities experience; hotel or resort experience preferred.
  • Mechanical Aptitude โ€” Working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
  • Certifications โ€” EPA Universal, HVAC certification, or trade licenses are a plus.
  • Physical Requirements โ€” Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, work in tight spaces, and stand/walk for extended periods.
  • Problemโ€Solving Skills โ€” Strong troubleshooting ability and attention to detail.
