Position: COMMUNITY LIFE SERVICE COORDINATOR

About Community Life

Community Life (CL) is The Community Builders (TCB)'s place-based model that uses healthy and stable housing as a platform for connecting our residents to services, community resources and opportunities so they can thrive. By creating programs and building strategic partnerships with residents and local stakeholders, CL helps create pathways to opportunities in early education, economic mobility, youth development, community engagement, voting registration, healthy living, and resident leadership.

Position Summary

Reporting to the District Manager of Community Life for NYC/NJ, the CLSC develops and coordinates support services for residents of Lord Sterling Senior Apartments, Hope Manor Apartments, and Riverside Apartments in New Brunswick, NJ. The CLSC partners with property management and community organizations, coordinates on-site programs, connects residents to resources, and provides individualized support to help residents achieve their goals. The role also supports resident engagement, housing stability, wellness, education, workforce development, financial literacy, and youth development. This position has a requirement of five days a week in office

Key Responsibilities

  • Build partnerships with local service providers and community stakeholders.
  • Connect residents to resources, programs, and opportunities; provide individualized support and success plans.
  • Plan and coordinate resident programs, orientations, outreach, and community-building activities.
  • Conduct resident needs assessments and the annual Community Life Questionnaire.
  • Develop and maintain an annual Community Success Plan and track outcomes using CL Connect.
  • Coordinate with property management and the Community Life team regarding resident needs and Watch List issues.
  • Support contracts, grants, volunteers, and other administrative requirements related to programming.
  • Attend site meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities.

Here’s what we’re looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, public health, community development, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience working with families in housing or human services.
  • Experience with New Jersey housing/rental assistance programs preferred.
  • Strong communication, organization, relationship-building, and data-management skills.
  • Strong personal initiative, attention to detail, and ability to work independently
  • Demonstrated experience using data to inform practice and program design
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; knowledge of property management/HUD systems is a plus.
  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends.
