Job description

Under the direction of the head swim coach, the assistant coach will be developing swimmers of all ability levels to reach their fullest potential by providing swim instruction in a safe and positive environment through high quality training and constant pursuit of excellence in and out of the water. Additionally, the Assistant Swim Coach is responsible for assisting the Head Swim Coach with managing the USA swim team in accordance with the rules and regulations set forth by USA Swimming and under the pool rules at The Arena Club.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Implement planned swim practice sets.
  • Implement safety rules, rescue and administer first aid when necessary. Report incidents to head coach.
  • Work with head coach to develop swim skills and evaluate swimmers progress.
  • Interact with parents at appropriate times.
  • Attend and coach at swim meets.
  • Attend mandatory clinics/courses for required certifications and to increase knowledge.
  • Fulfill other duties and responsibilities as assigned by head coach.

Certifications/ Requirements:
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Must have at least one year experience in coaching competitive swimming.
  • Must have an understanding of how children learn, while having the ability to communicate clearly and directly with them.
  • Must have communication skills to communicate effectively and efficiently with the Head Coach, other staff, and the swim team parents.
  • Must maintain certifications in Lifeguarding, CPR with AED and First Aid.

Hours:
  • Must have weeknight availability (after 5pm), as well as weekend availability.

Status:
  • Part Time
