We are seeking a talented, brand-driven Designer, Home Textiles to join our small and highly collaborative Product Design team. You will contribute to translating our brand and product vision into designs for a wide variety of home products, primarily focused on bedding (sheeting, duvet covers, quilts, blankets, decorative pillows and throw blankets), as well as bath and rug categories. As a growing company, you will have meaningful visibility - including direct exposure to our SVP, Product Creation and our Founder & Chief Product Officer. As a brand that prides itself on creating the highest quality products rooted in sustainability, our ideal candidate has an extreme attention to detail, is highly organized, self-motivated, and has a genuine passion for home design and decor.
This position reports to Senior Designer, Textiles & Home Products.
Responsibilities:
  • Create unique and original designs for wovens, embroideries, prints and knits that are consistent with our brand aesthetic and company values
  • Learn and maintain an ongoing understanding of Boll & Branch creative direction, brand aesthetic and design language
  • Research and track trends in fashion, home, nature and architecture to inform seasonal and product design direction
  • Maintain an understanding of fabrications, construction, and techniques to execute designs that uphold our commitment to quality, functionality, sustainability, and integrity at a target price point
  • Execute textile and product designs through both hand drawing/painting and digital tools, demonstrating strong surface design skills and the ability to create original artwork across bedding product categories
    • Create technically accurate repeats, alternative design layouts and scales for review and factory ready specs and surface designs
    • Ensure exceptional attention to detail across all work, with precision down to construction and weave-level execution where applicable
    • Partner with the Color team to create colorway options using our Pantone & Archroma library
  • Render complete bed looks using Adobe Creative Suite and generative AI tools, such as Gemini, to support design presentations and internal reviews
  • Support Senior Designers in developing design specs and artwork for prototypes and production
  • Demonstrate strong responsiveness and openness to feedback, with the ability to collaborate and quickly iterate on work based on direction
  • Communicate spec design details to Product Development (PD) partners and factory partners where needed
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional partners in PD, Color, Materials, Merchandising and Production on product execution, revisions and cost engineering without compromising quality and integrity of design
  • Partner with PD on the status of styles in development to help ensure product execution meets design specifications
  • Work proactively according to the development calendar to meet timelines and work through product approvals
  • Assist in building both physical and digital design presentations for internal milestone meetings and external customer meetings; maintain and update design decks
  • Continually expand knowledge of textiles, techniques, color and technical skill sets

Requirements:
  • Candidates must submit a portfolio demonstrating strong design skills in textiles and surface design
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Textile Design, Surface Pattern Design, Fashion Design or a related field
  • 4+ years of experience in Textile Design in home furnishings or fashion/apparel
  • Demonstrates a refined aesthetic sensibility and elevated taste level in home design and decor
  • Strong hand drawing and computer-generated artwork skills; highly proficient in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator for computer-generated surface and product designs
  • Skilled in using AI tools to aid in generating renderings and design mock-ups
  • Strong attention to detail, especially in relation to product design specifications, quality and brand aesthetics
  • Effective communicator with the ability to articulate design concepts clearly to team members and cross-functional partners
  • Curiosity and desire to continuously learn from market and customer insights
  • Experience using Google Suite (Gmail, Sheets, Docs, Slides, Meet, etc.) and Microsoft Excel
  • Experience in and understanding of product development and production process
  • Comfortable in a small, nimble team where the pace is real and priorities can shift; able to manage multiple projects at once
  • Willingness and enthusiasm to help with any product design related projects
  • Exposure to or experience using a Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system preferred

The primary location for this role is Summit, NJ. Currently we are operating under a hybrid model and this role will work in person in Summit a minimum of 3 days a week. We believe our business and our culture are strongest when we work together in person, and also have access to physical products, samples, and techniques housed in our office. There may also be additional times when you're asked to work in the office because it's in the best interest of our business or your team.
The annual base salary range for this role is $75,000 to $130,000. It is important to note that our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our size, industry, and the market and are one part of the total rewards that we provide. Individual pay rate decisions are based on several factors, including qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, scope of the role, and internal peer benchmarking.
The above is a comprehensive, but not exhaustive, description of requirements and expectations that may evolve over time based on business needs. You must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
About Boll & Branch:
At Boll & Branch, we don't make bedding like everyone else. We make it better.
In 2014, our founders, Scott and Missy Tannen, challenged every conventional standard in the textile industry, creating a new supply chain that prioritized thread quality, not thread count. By investing exclusively in 100% organic raw materials from the start, we became the first bedding company ever to be Fair Trade Certified. Today, we keep five commitments at the heart of everything we do. We are:
  • Cultivators of the Highest Quality Threads
  • Pioneers in 100% Organic Cotton
  • Free from Toxins at Every Step
  • 100% Traceable from Farm to Finish
  • Committed to Fair and Ethical Treatment for All

Boll & Branch has over 250 employees, and we are headquartered in Summit, NJ, with a second office in New York, NY and a dedicated Photo Studio in New Providence, NJ. In 2019, to propel our growth, we raised $100M from L Catterton, a leading consumer goods private equity fund. We are also progressively expanding our retail and wholesale footprint. While the heart of our business lies in the direct-to-consumer online model, we also have several retail stores around the country as well as partnerships with Bloomingdales and Nordstrom.
Boll & Branch LLC is an equal opportunity employer.
