Job description

i3 is looking for a Nondestructive Testing (NDT) Technician to join our team! The ideal candidate will have previous experience in rotary and/or fixed wing aircraft nondestructive inspection. This position is located in Huntsville, Alabama.


  • Detect flaws such as cracks, delamination, voids, processing defects, and heat damage using Fluorescent Penetrant, Magnetic Particle, Eddy Current, Ultrasonic, Radiographic (CR), and Optical test equipment.  
  • Provide the necessary guidance and training to Active Duty, Reserve, and National Guard DOD personnel in the techniques/methods of detecting visible and non-visible defects.  
  • Maintain records of training activities, trainee progress and program effectiveness at government site location and remote locations.  
  • Give presentations and speaking in front of groups of 20 or more individuals.
  • This position will require 20% travel CONUS and OCONUS.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Level 2 Certification in Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Penetrant Testing (PT), Eddy Current Testing (ET), and Ultrasonic Testing (UT) or military equivalent.
  • NDT Level II individual qualified to set up and calibrate equipment and to interpret and evaluate results with respect to applicable codes, standards and specifications.
  • Thoroughly familiar with the scope and limitations of the methods for which they are qualified and should exercise assigned responsibility for on-the-job training and guidance of trainees and NDT Level I/II personnel.
  • Ability to organize and report the results of NDT tests.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
  • U. S. Citizenship is required.
