Job description

Candidates should demonstrate a thorough understanding of engineering technology.  Engineering Interns must be enrolled in an accredited degree program in Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or other related scientific or technical discipline with a preference for a standing of a junior or higher.  

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:: Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.


REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:

Apply your classroom-learned skills to a program supporting the defense of our country. GDMS has an immediate opening for an Engineering Intern to join our team. The position provides an opportunity to work on projects that support some of our nation’s fundamental defense services. GDMS employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams on various technical projects associated with our core mission. In addition to receiving a competitive wage, the Engineering Intern will enhance their skill set by working among a talented and technically accomplished group of colleagues. The Systems Engineering Team Member on the Embedded product development programs perform the following activities:

  • Participates in requirements analysis, functional analysis, performance analysis (e.g. timing, power, etc.), design (of test setups/approaches), integration and verification of test equipment/setups.
  • Participates in systems modeling activities.
  • Develops Test Cases, Test Procedures, Test Scripts, and associated test documentation (plans and reports) for formal test and verification activities.
  • Supports setup up test infrastructures and environments for performing various testing.
  • Supports activities related to acquiring and setting up the test assets including identifying Bill of Materials (BOMs), working with material planners to procure materials/cables/equipment, working with Manufacturing/Operations to build, checkout, and setup the test assets and equipment.
  • Supports activities related to preparing for and conducting formal test events including Design Verification Testing (DVT), Qualification Testing (QT), Acceptance Testing (AT), EMI/EMC Testing, Radiation Testing, and other formal test events.
  • Provides status inputs related to tasking from the team backlogs.
  • Generally, works within the Systems Engineering Integration and Test group, but has some limited contact with other engineering and manufacturing groups.
  • Generally, has some contact with project leaders to provide status or discuss technical issues.
  • Generally, works on problems of medium complexity and scope under supervision from a Lead and peer review of other team members.
