Purpose OF ROLE

The Associate Field Engineer Technician Animal Comfortis an entry-level position designed for a recent engineering graduate who is eager to apply their technical knowledge in real-world agricultural settings. This role provides a unique learning opportunity that blends engineering design with animal biomechanics and comfort, giving the successful candidate exposure to how technology directly impacts the dairy producer operations and animal welfare.

Working closely with producers, dealers, and internal teams, the role offers hands-on experience in barns and agricultural environments, as well as exposure to diverse applications beyond dairy, including equine and zoological animals. With potential for both internal travel across Canada and potential international assignments.


Key responsibilities and accountabilities

Provide on-site support to producers and dealers, including installation, setup, and troubleshooting of animal comfort systems.

Conduct field testing and gather data on system performance in barns and other agricultural environments.

Collaborate with sales and technical teams to address customer inquiries, identify gaps, and propose solutions.

Assist in documenting installation processes, technical findings, and recommended improvements.

Support a variety of agricultural applications, including dairy, equine, and zoological animals.

Participate in training and knowledge transfer with senior engineers to build expertise for future succession.

Maintain a customer-focused approach, ensuring a professional and solution-oriented experience.

Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by providing feedback from field experience to design and product teams.

Travel domestically and internationally, as needed, to support installations and troubleshooting.

Support training sessions, demonstrations, and onboarding for producers and dealers to ensure correct use and maintenance of equipment.

Act as the voice of the customer by relaying field insights, pain points, and opportunities back to engineering and product development teams.

Ensure compliance with health, safety, and biosecurity protocols during all field visits.

Prepare basic reports, technical summaries, or recommendations based on field observations and testing.

Assist senior engineers with prototype evaluations, product pilots, and feedback collection in live agricultural environments.

Participate in occasional trade shows, producer meetings, or industry events to provide technical support and represent the company.

Other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Diploma or Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Agricultural, or related Engineering discipline (recent graduate).
  • SolidWorks/Designer CAD capabilities (MUST).
  • Strong dairy background or technical experience (a cow person), with comfort working on-farm, around livestock, and in environments involving manure.
  • Hands-on, practical engineer with a common sense approach, able to balance theory with real-world problem solving.
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically and troubleshoot effectively.
  • Innovative mindset with a willingness to contribute new ideas and solutions.
  • Passion for animal comfort, welfare, and biomechanics.
  • Strong communication skills, with ability to act as a technical contributor in dealer and customer communications.
