Job description

Radiance Technologies, a rapidly growing employee-owned company, is looking for a Directed Energy Test Director to support our customers and their testing programs. In this role, the focus is to provide test preparation, instrumentation, and analysis support to the test team. This team provides test and evaluation (T&E) planning, logistics, organization, execution, data collection, instrumentation development and deployment support, upgrades and maintenance of existing instrumentation suite, and development of new tools/processes to improve the capabilities of our team in support of the T&E mission. Travel will be required to support test events at various ranges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the planning, organization, and execution of DE and Kinetic T&E programs for the US Army and other DoD customers.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a diverse team of engineers, scientists, and technicians in the design, analysis, planning, and execution of tests for directed energy systems and kinetic systems, including those involving Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS).
  • Coordinate with program offices, test ranges, range safety teams, and internal stakeholders to support test planning, safety reviews, and safe execution of test events.
  • Assist in the development and execution of the test program plan, defining objectives, success criteria, and methods of verification for each test.
  • Support the development, maintenance, and upgrade of Directed Energy and Kinetic test instrumentation while closely coordinating with data collection and instrumentation teams during test events.
  • Develop and contribute to Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs) and other test documentation to ensure test events are properly planned, resourced, and approved.
  • Execute test events, support real-time data collection, and contribute to post-test analysis and reporting.
  • Identify and leverage company resources to achieve project technical objectives while supporting schedule and cost control.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline.
  • Active Secret security clearance.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in test and evaluation (T&E), systems testing, or related engineering roles supporting defense, aerospace, or weapons systems programs.
  • Experience with engineering and scientific data analysis tools such as MATLAB, Python, or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating with or supporting DoD program offices, test ranges, and range safety teams.
  • Experience supporting the development of Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs), planning and execution of test events, and coordination with data collection and instrumentation teams.
  • Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills with proven ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.

Desired Qualifications

  • Active TS/SCI clearance.
  • Hands-on experience with directed energy systems testing (high energy lasers, high power microwaves) or kinetic/counter-UAS effects testing.
  • Familiarity with DoD test and evaluation processes, MIL-STDs, range safety protocols, and test range operations.
  • Experience supporting diverse teams in dynamic, fast-paced test and evaluation environments.
