Job Description
BAE Systems is seeking a full-time Engineer to join our Weapon System Test team supporting the COLUMBIA/Dreadnought and US TRIDENT/UK Vanguard Submarine Strategic Weapon System (SWS) programs. The selected candidate will be working and interfacing with numerous engineering teams supporting Strategic Systems Programs (SSP).
II. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Duties and responsibilities which occupy a major portion of time and importance to the job. Incumbent(s) perform one or more of the following duties.)
  • Working collaboratively in a team setting with mechanical and electrical team members to develop SWS System Level Test Procedures
  • Applying knowledge of engineering principles to support requirements verification and validation
  • Assisting in the evaluation of technical documentation for system compatibility and potential impacts
  • Maintaining Test Program documentation
  • Developing a knowledge of the various subsystem that comprise the Strategic Weapons System
  • Developing requirements, test plans, test procedures, and evaluation techniques for new emerging test programs
  • Supporting on-site testing, data collection and analysis. Tracking and solving test anomalies and preparing test analysis reports
  • Preparing charts, diagrams, and reports expressing technical progress and accomplishments measured against specific milestones
  • Beginning to develop areas of technical specialization (e.g., Systems Engineering, welding, degaussing, etc.) and maintaining cognizance of scientific and technological developments in the field

    Required Education, Experience, & Skills
      • Bachelors Degree from an accredited engineering program and four years of relevant experience or six plus years of SSBN SWS experience in lieu of a degree
      • Experience in Systems, Electrical, or Mechanical engineering, design, fabrication, interface definition, systems integration, and/or requirements verification / system testing
      • Proficient with the MS Office Suite
      • Ability to work independently in developing creative solutions
      • Ability to work and communicate well with management, customers, and other contractors - including ability to provide clear and concise presentation/demonstration of advanced technical concepts
      • Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills
      • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with others
      • Strong organizational, planning, and follow-up skills
      • Demonstrated time management, task tracking, organizational skills, and ability to interpret and follow requirements
      • Willingness and ability to travel

    Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
      • 4-7 years of relevant professional experience
      • Current D-5 TRIDENT SWS Technical / Operational Knowledge
      • SSBN Missile Technician with TRIDENT II SWS/SWSSS deployed experience
      • SSBN or SSN Navigation Electronics Technician (NAV ET) experience
      • Working knowledge of SSP
      • Experience working within the SSP Test Program
      • Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) or Digital Engineering (DE) experience
      • Knowledge of CAD/CAM/3D Modeling
      • Experience with Systems Engineering principles including requirements development, allocation, and analysis
      • Experience developing test procedures for verification of complex systems
      • Working knowledge of IBM Rational DOORS software
      • Experience in Simulation Modeling and Analysis

    Pay Information
    Full-Time Salary Range: $97008 - $164914
    Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
