Lead Prep Cook - Flour Bakery, Cambridgeport - 40 Erie Street, Cambridge

If so, we have the opportunity for you! Flour Bakery + Cafe is looking for a full-time Lead Prep to help oversee two locations, splitting time between our Cambridgeport and Central Sq locations.
The Lead Prep position is a great opportunity for any line cook or prep cook who is looking to grow into a leadership role and/or management.
The Lead prep works closely with the Kitchen Manager to ensure that all parts of the kitchen and stewarding team are efficient and supported at all times. The Leap Prep is expected to lead their teams on their own when the Kitchen Manager is not in the bakery and is expected to work in conjunction with the FOH team to ensure that all orders are being fulfilled timely and with accuracy. Success in this role requires the ability to be proactive when faced with any obstacle including but not limited to; ordering products, fulfilling guest orders and staffing issues, while offering support and guidance for all of the team members, including FOH, at times.
Day-to-Day Performance Expectations:
  • Execute prep list for savory and pastry items as written by kitchen manager or manager . Note the order in which tasks are to be completed.
  • Provide support for coworkers in order to ensure prep is being done efficiently.
  • Follow all recipes and techniques in food preparation.
  • Be another set of eyes on product/Mom test
  • Provide constructive feedback as needed
  • Handle food and clean stations per standard sanitation procedures.
  • Assist with kitchen upkeep and deep cleaning tasks when production list is complete
  • Assist with checking in ordering from BK
  • Help maintain an orderly and clean kitchen
  • Cover all Kitchen managers days off
  • Check-in each day when you arrive and leave with the FOH manager or Kitchen Manager
  • Plan any and all catering and special orders with FOH manager or Kitchen Manager
  • Place BK orders through Flexi
  • Place vendor orders
  • Inventory product to meet all BOH food pars
  • Ensure stewards have a plan for the day and night

Skills for Qualification:
  • Preferred 6 months of baking experience and/or related experience and training
  • Demonstrate an active passion for Flour and our mission

Work Environment:
  • Must be able to work around an environment with loud noises and machinery.
  • Must be able to work around various aromas and fluctuating temperatures (at times, you could be in a freezer and.or hot kitchens, etc.)
  • We do our best not to cross-contaminate anything containing gluten. However, there may be gluten in the air at times. We do our best to accommodate any staff allergy requests.

Compensation:
The starting rate for this position is $20. The total pay range for this position is $20-$26.95.
