The Role

Hamilton Airport has two openings for the position of Terminal Operations Officer. Reporting to the Manager, Operations Centre, the successful candidate will provide customer support, parking, operational support and security. This role is a regular, full-time union position covered by a Collective Agreement.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Enforce "Aerodrome Security Regulations", "Aerodrome Traffic Regulations", "Canadian Aviation Security Regulations" and relevant by-laws respecting Hamilton International Airport.
  • Provide information to employees and the public through telephone and counter response.
  • Control, monitor and provide temporary Restricted Area Passes.
  • Control and monitor access to restricted areas.
  • Engage with and assist passengers, airport personal and onsite vendors.ย 
  • Monitor and record the operation of passenger security screening.
  • Co-ordinate all-hours calls and responses of Airport Duty Personnel.
  • Provide assistance to airport tenants for security and operations-related matters.
  • Monitor and perform patrol duties in all areas of the ATB, the main apron, public parking and roadways, employee parking, etc.
  • Respond to airport-related emergency situations at the airport.
  • Perform escorting duties.
  • Perform testing and minor maintenance of security systems.
  • Complete and forward reports.
  • Assist with training/testing of airport personnel.
  • Other duties and responsibilities commensurate with the position may be assigned.

About Youย 

  • Minimum 2 years in an operations, administration or customer service role, preferably in an aviation or airport setting.
  • Experience working effectively in a regulated environment.
  • High school graduation; relevant university or college degree preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications combined with critical thinking skills.
  • Current or previous customer service experience.
  • Organization and planning skills crucial for multi-tasking while prioritizing and executing tasks.
  • Ability to work in a high-pressure environment and diffuse and manage situations.
  • Must possess a valid Ontario Driver's License with G-Class qualifications.
  • Ability to obtain the necessary clearances relevant to an airport.
  • Law and Security Administration Diploma or equivalent would be an asset
