Job Description

WHAT'S THE JOB? 

Job Purpose: A Custodial Associate (LD Cleaner) is generally responsible for daily cleaning tasks in designated areas of the terminal or facility. This includes dusting, wiping, litter pick up, mopping, sweeping, washroom cleaning, emptying garbage containers and vacuuming as required. This is a 3-month contract position with the potential for full-time employment. Available shifts include Days (7:00 AM – 3:00 PM) and Afternoons (3:00 PM – 11:00 PM). The starting pay rate is $19.83/hour, with a $1.00 wage increase effective July 1, 2026.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Wipes ledges and windowsills
  • Wipes and polishes office furniture
  • Spot cleans walls, partitions, light switches and doors
  • Cleans and polishes chrome and stainless steel
  • Cleans partition glass and facility pillars/posts that are within arm’s reach
  • Wipes and disinfects telephones
  • Spot clean glass entrance doors and glass partitions
  • Clean locker rooms and tenant areas as required
  • Cleans and disinfects washrooms including, toilets, urinals, counters, sinks, mirrors, partition frames, dispensers, baseboards and floors.
  • Restocks washroom dispensers containing hand soap, paper towels and toilet tissue
  • Empty and remove waste container from the washrooms, lounges and general garbage containers within the facility
  • Dusts baseboards and low air vents
  • Sweeps stairwells and spot mops steps as required
  • Responsible for completing pre-checks prior to using equipment
  • Vacuums and wipes cloth furniture at established frequencies
  • Dust mops floor surfaces as required
  • Vacuums and spot clean stains on carpeted areas at established frequencies.
  • Empties and wipes down the waste/garbage container
  • Cleans medical spills and or floods as required using proper PPE kit
  • Litter pick up of debris on floor and cigarette butts (curbside)
  • Removes garbage bags from cleaner cart and places them in designated room/area or into large stationed bin in Janitor rooms (for transport to compactor)
  • Damp mops/Spot mops floors
  • Prioritizes and attends to spills calls immediately
  • Clean and tidy stock room at the end of shift
  • Responsible for maintaining and cleaning equipment before and after use
  • Responds to radio calls and follows the radio protocol as required
  • Responsible for keys and assigned equipment
  • Ensures proper colour-coded cleaning cloth is used for a designated task
  • Follows the designated cleaning route set for the assigned zone
  • Ensures the proper tools are used for the designated task
  • Ensures use of iOS technology-based equipment is used to track and verify tasks, pickups and to ensure compliance and mitigate risk in assigned cleaning area
  • Attends all technical training for the role as required
  • Completes all other duties as required or assigned from time to time by the supervisor

  • Attends all required health & safety training
  • Works in a safe manner and follows safe work instructions and assists in prevention
  • Complies with H&S regulations and company safety policies and procedures
  • Engages and assists passengers in the terminal as necessary & attends I Am Toronto Pearson Ambassador session, or any relevant training related to assisting passengers
  • Does not operate any equipment without prior training and completes the provided equipment pre-check prior to any use
  • Uses personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times
  • Reports any unsafe conditions, hazards and all workplace injuries to supervisor or manager
  • Participates in the early and safe return to work process as per our RTW policy
