WBG Environment Department: The WBG Environment (ENV) Global Department works at the intersection of knowledge, partnership and finance to (i) help countries and companies better manage and grow three real economy sectors, namely forestry and non-timber forest products, fisheries and aquaculture, and nature-based tourism, (ii) help companies and countries access and deploy the circular economy technologies of the future to reduce costs, reduce pollution and enhance competitiveness; and (iii) accelerate delivery of World Bank Group flagship priorities, including M300, by identifying and mitigating environmental risks that could stall progress. We do this by mobilizing and translating global knowledge - across the IBRD, IDA, IFC, MIGA, and external partners - into scalable, investable solutions for capital markets, companies, communities and countries.

We work through our regional and industry partners across the WBG. Specifically, ENV is responsible for establishing and reinforcing the authorizing environment to unlock the power of natural infrastructure to generate jobs, growth and a livable planet. This means developing the policies and regulations that create a credible enabling environment that attracts private investments and makes public investments cost effective, as well as building the capabilities of the institutions that implement those policies. The Global Wildlife Program: Established in 2015, the Global Wildlife Program (GWP) provides a dynamic knowledge and learning platform for countries across Africa, Asia, and Latin America and the Caribbean to exchange experience and lessons on wildlife conservation and management, including scalable solutions that can be adapted to other contexts. Technical topics include diversified wildlife economies including nature-based tourism and jobs, illegal and unsustainable wildlife trade and use, human-wildlife coexistence, protected and conserved area management, ecological connectivity, One Health, and sustainable finance.

Responsibilities: The ENV Global Department is recruiting an Extended Term Consultant (ETC2) to provide technical, programmatic, and operational support to the Global Wildlife Program (GWP) Knowledge Platform, with a focus on knowledge curation, knowledge exchange, communities of practice, and applied learning.
 
The ETC will help translate operational experience from GWP country projects into actionable knowledge, facilitate cross-country learning and exchange, and contribute to capacity building among governments and local partners. The role requires strong knowledge management experience and the ability to engage effectively across a range of environment and development topics.

The main responsibilities of the ETC include the following:
  Contribute to the effective delivery of the GWP knowledge management strategy, including through identifying knowledge and learning needs, designing and implementing training, capacity building and peer learning initiatives, and tracking knowledge outputs and outcomes.
Develop and improve systems for knowledge organization and curation, including GWP knowledge repositories and web-based platforms, and templates and processes for documenting case studies and lessons learned.
Lead the design, planning and delivery (including logistics, procurement/contracting, dissemination, and evaluation) of workshops, webinars, study tours, twinning exchanges, and other interactive learning and knowledge events.
Lead and contribute to the development of online learning modules, training materials, and other products intended to drive knowledge exchange and build technical capacities.
Establish and support communities of practice and thematic learning networks across regions and technical topics.
Contribute to the systematic documentation of lessons learned, good practices, and results emerging from GWP country projects and other global experiences.
Facilitate the integration of monitoring and evaluation data into knowledge activities by assessing program results and analyzing data to identify good practices, common challenges, and learning priorities.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of the GWP knowledge management approach, including identifying new interactive learning approaches and opportunities to strengthen peer-to-peer exchange.
Coordinate GWP activities with other GEF Integrated Programs, technical partners, and World Bank Group Knowledge Platforms, regional units, country offices, and verticals.
Represent ENV and the GWP in relevant internal and external meetings, workshops, and learning events, as required.
Contribute to GWP program management functions, including work planning, coordination, tracking of deliverables, progress reporting, and management briefings.
