Job description

Job Description :

The New York Post provides readers with the best in News, Sports, Pop Culture, Fashion and Entertainment - with signature wit, irreverence and authority averaging 90 million unique viewers a month. Over the past 225 years, The Post has evolved into a multi-platform media company spanning print, digital, video, audio, app, television and commerce.

Page Six Digital is the modern evolution of the iconic gossip column, delivering the latest in celebrity news, entertainment, and pop culture with a bold, fast-paced digital edge. As the go-to destination for breaking stories, exclusive scoops, and viral moments, Page Six has grown far beyond its print roots to become a dynamic, multi-platform brand that reaches millions of readers daily across web, social, and video.

Page Six is looking for a bold, sharp, and pop culture-obsessed Reporter (temporary) who lives and breathes celebrity news. This is your chance to join the authority in entertainment gossip and help drive the conversations that everyone will be talking about tomorrow. You'll pitch and write buzzy, can't-miss stories daily with speed, accuracy, and unmistakable voice. We want someone who's always one step ahead-plugged into social media trends, fluent in fan culture, and relentless in uncovering those juicy, under-the-radar scoops that make Page Six sizzle. If you thrive in a fast-paced newsroom, know your way around SEO and analytics, and can spot a viral moment before it breaks, we want to hear from you. Let's make headlines.

Note: The schedule for this role is Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm EST. This is a temporary role expected to run through September.

Responsibilities:

  • Pitch and write several celebrity- and entertainment-based stories quickly and with clean copy daily

  • Proactively seek out and uncover under-the-radar stories that will resonate with the Page Six audience

  • Have your finger on the pulse of what fans are talking about on social media and the ability to create content that fits their interests

  • Help expand Page Six's nighttime news coverage by monitoring social media and using analytics tools (Google Analytics, Parse.ly, etc.) to achieve success

  • Be a self-starter and have the ability to think quickly on their feet and multitask in a fast-paced news environment

  • Have an understanding of SEO best practices and analytics and use that knowledge to help guide coverage

Qualifications:

  • At least two years of major journalism experience

  • A deep understanding of and passion for all things celebrity and entertainment

  • Exceptional writing and reporting skills

  • Ability to write succinct, eye-catching headlines and clean, ready-to-publish content

  • Knowledge and understanding of SEO best practices

  • Strong editorial judgment and communication skills

  • Familiarity with content management systems (Wordpress, in particular), photo editing software & web analytics tools

  • Flexibility in covering live pop culture events (i.e. Oscars, Golden Globes, etc.) and working outside traditional business hours when needed

Note: This position is open to candidates based in New York City or Los Angeles. The New York Post adheres to a hybrid work model.

Please note that this is a temporary engagement facilitated through a third-party vendor. While the role supports The New York Post, employment and payroll will be managed by the vendor.
