About the Company:
Founded in 2017 by Anthony and Joe Russo, AGBO is an artist-led independent studio shaping the future of film and television. The Russo Brothers and AGBO have generated more than $7 billion at the global box office, including Avengers: Endgame. The studio's projects include Academy Award-winning Everything Everywhere All at Once, Netflix hits The Gray Man and Extraction, and Prime Video's visceral thriller The Bluff and the global Citadel franchise. Citadel Season 2 premieres in May 2026.
AGBO is currently in production with Netflix on Tygo and Mercenary, both part of the Extraction universe, as well as with Lionsgate on John Rambo, a prequel to the iconic franchise. The studio is in post-production on The Whisper Man, starring Robert De Niro, and Avengers: Doomsday, which will be released December 18, 2026. AGBO will begin shooting Avengers: Secret Wars later this year. Both upcoming Avengers films are directed by Anthony and Joe Russo and co-produced by AGBO and Marvel Studios.
About the Position:
AGBO is seeking a talented Realtime Lighting Technical Director to join our Visual Effects (VFX) team. The Lighting Technical Director will be responsible for developing and implementing high-quality lighting within Unreal Engine to achieve a photorealistic or stylized look based on project requirements. This role requires a strong artistic eye, technical proficiency, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
This is an Expression of Interest role.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with CG Supervisor to create compelling lighting solutions in Unreal Engine.
  • Set up, adjust, and refine lighting rigs, post-process effects, and shading to match live-action plates, concept art, or reference materials.
  • Utilize Unreal Engine's lighting tools, including Lumen, and occasionally Path Tracing (speed is a priority), to achieve the desired visual fidelity.
  • Optimize lighting setups for real-time rendering while maintaining high-quality results through an extensive use of CVARs.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless integration of CG elements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical lighting challenges to maintain production efficiency.
  • Maintain a high level of detail and realism while meeting production deadlines.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills:
  • 5+ years of experience in lighting for real-time environments, feature films, television, or high-end commercials.
  • Strong proficiency in Unreal Engine 5's lighting and rendering workflows.
  • Virtual Art Department Experience.
  • Experience with real-time lighting techniques, including dynamic, static, and hybrid lighting solutions.
  • Understanding of physically based rendering (PBR) workflows and real-time shading.
  • Familiarity with Unreal Engine's Blueprints and material system is a plus.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python or Blueprint scripting is a plus.
  • Ability to take direction and iterate based on feedback while maintaining artistic quality.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience with compositing software (Nuke) is a plus.
  • Experience with Arnold (Houdini, Maya) is a plus.
  • AAA gaming experience is a plus.
  • Houdini / USD skills are a plus.
