Job description

Title: Production Scheduler
Location: Independence, MO
Salary: $ 77,600 - $ 98,000
Schedule: 980 Schedule
Focus: Under limited direction, the Production Scheduler is responsible for planning, coordinating, and maintaining efficient production schedules to ensure on-time delivery and optimal utilization of resources. This role serves as the key link between production, procurement, and management teams to balance capacity, labor, and material availability.
Production Scheduler Essential Job Functions:
  • Plan, assign, and maintain production schedules based on orders, capacity, and material availability.
  • Coordinate with shop floor and leadership to resolve issues, eliminate delays, and meet delivery targets.
  • Monitor and adjust schedules to respond to changing priorities or customer demands.
  • Track inventory and material requirements, supporting procurement and forecasting efforts.
  • Manage production orders and communicate product or process changes promptly.

Production Scheduler Minimum Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree* or higher preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a production or manufacturing environment (ammunition preferred).
  • Strong understanding of capacity planning, inventory control, and manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Word/PowerPoint.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel required.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

Location-Specific Requirements:
  • Must possess a valid US driver's license.
  • This position requires successful vetting as an Employee Possessor in accordance with U.S. Department of Justice and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
  • This position requires access to ITAR controlled technical data, and as such, employment will be contingent upon the candidate's ability to access ITAR controlled technical data pursuant to an export license approved by the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls, if required.
  • This position requires successful vetting for unescorted access in accordance with U.S. Army and Department of Defense access policies. The US Government does not allow non-US citizens on-site at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant. Therefore, to be considered in the hiring process, the candidate must be a US citizen.
