Job description

Paid Internship Opportunity!

Ever wonder how the lights stay on? Benton REA is a member-owned electric cooperative serving the Tri-Cities area - and we're looking for a curious, people-oriented student or entry-level professional to join our Member Experience team as a Member Experience Intern. This is a hands-on, paid opportunity to get inside the world of electric utility operations: you'll be the friendly face and voice our members count on, while gaining real experience with the systems, processes, and people that keep a cooperative running. From account management and billing support to records work and cross-team collaboration, you'll come away with skills that translate across the energy industry and beyond.

The primary location for this position will be our West Richland campus, 2121 Cooperative Way, West Richland, but will occasionally assist with coverage of our satellite Prosser office.

Target Hiring Date: September 2026

Key Emphases:

  • Member Experience: Be the reason our members leave with their questions answered and their day a little better - exceptional service is at the heart of everything we do.
  • Utility Industry Exposure: Get a real look at how an electric cooperative operates, including hands-on experience with billing systems, CRM tools, and collaboration with Engineering, Operations, and Billing teams.
  • Growth Mindset: We invest in you - structured onboarding, guided learning alongside experienced staff, and development opportunities that support your next step in the energy field.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or equivalent (GED).
  • Positive attitude, eager to learn, and willingness to be a team player.

Job Information:

  • 40 hours per week
  • Mon - Thurs, 10 hr days
  • 6:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

This is a temporary position expected to last up to four (4) months. Temporary positions are not eligible for Association benefits and do not have a length of service or hours guarantee.
