Job description

CH: CCS Specialty Team Centers- (Full-time, Day Shift, Temporary) -

6 Month-Temporary Unbenefited Position 

Job Summary: The Social Worker-MSW, Children's Hospital, works under the direction of a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and is a key member of the physician-directed healthcare team. Professionally applies social work methodology and theory to practice by a) providing support for patients and families who are affected by illness and/or injury, loss, grief, victimization, change in life-style, or other situation that may impair their ability to function optimally, b) performing individualized and culturally sensitive comprehensive psychosocial assessments, and c) developing and implementing interventions, treatment strategies, and discharge plans based on assessment findings. Participates in weekend/holiday coverage and on-call rotation as requested. Provides coverage for other departments when requested, e.g., peds/adults/clinics/ emergency department. Able to communicate fluently in English and Spanish is highly preferred. Performs other duties as needed.
Education and Experience: Master's Degree in social work required. Minimum two years of experience in acute care or clinic setting preferred.
Knowledge and Skills: Able to read; write legibly; speak in English (and Spanish preferred) with professional quality; use computer and software programs necessary to the position; troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment. Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; be assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate. Able to accept direction; perform basic math functions; manage multiple assignments effectively; work well under pressure; problem solve; organize and prioritize workload; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail. Able to distinguish colors and smells as necessary for patient care; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the work place/patient care; see adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents necessary to position; discern temperature variances through touch.
