Search & Comparison IntentUnderstanding theoretical math roles, academic researchData analysis, machine learning, AI applications

Remote Theoretical Mathematics involves research and problem-solving in pure mathematics, often in academic or research settings. Remote Data Scientists focus on analyzing data to inform business decisions using statistical and machine learning techniques. While both roles require strong analytical skills, their work environments, tools, and industry applications differ significantly.

What jobs can you get with a math degree remotely?

Remote jobs for those with a math degree include roles such as data analyst, quantitative analyst, software developer, actuarial analyst, and research scientist. These positions often require strong analytical, programming, and problem-solving skills, and may involve using tools like Python, R, or MATLAB. Many of these roles are available through online job platforms and can be performed independently from home.

Can mathematicians work remotely?

Mathematicians, including those in theoretical mathematics, can often work remotely, especially if their tasks involve research, data analysis, or writing. Many roles require access to computers, mathematical software, and collaboration tools, making remote work feasible with the right setup and communication skills.

Does the FBI hire mathematicians?

Yes, the FBI hires mathematicians, often in roles related to cryptography, data analysis, and intelligence analysis. Candidates typically need strong analytical skills, a background in mathematics or related fields, and security clearances. These positions may require specialized knowledge in areas like number theory, algorithms, or statistical modeling.

How much do theoretical mathematicians make?

Theoretical mathematicians typically earn between $60,000 and $120,000 annually, depending on experience, education, and the sector they work in. Academic roles often have lower salaries, while positions in research institutions or private industry tend to pay more. Advanced skills in mathematical modeling and programming can also influence earning potential.

Job description

Are you a mathematics expert fluent in Dutch, eager to shape the future of AI? Largescale language models are evolving from clever chatbots into powerful engines of scientific discovery. With highquality training data, tomorrow's AI can democratize worldclass education, keep pace with cuttingedge research, and streamline academic work for students and professionals everywhere. That training data begins with you-we need your expertise to help power the next generation of AI.

We're looking for mathematics specialists who live and breathe algebra, calculus, number theory, linear algebra, differential equations, statistics, geometry, mathematical logic, and discrete mathematics. You'll challenge advanced language models on topics like real and complex analysis, optimization theory, mathematical proofs, set theory, probability distributions, cryptographic algorithms, and applied mathematics-documenting every failure mode so we can harden model reasoning.

On a typical day, you will converse with the model on classroom problems and theoretical mathematics questions, verify factual accuracy and logical soundness, capture reproducible error traces, and suggest improvements to our prompt engineering and evaluation metrics.

A master's or PhD in mathematics or a closely related quantitative field is ideal; peerreviewed publications, teaching experience, research in pure or applied mathematics, or handson experience with mathematical modeling signal fit. Clear, metacognitive communication-"showing your work"-is essential.

Ready to turn your mathematics expertise into the knowledge base for tomorrow's AI? Apply today and start teaching the model that will teach the world.

We offer a pay range of $6-to$65 per hour, with the exact rate determined after evaluating your experience, expertise, and geographic location. Final offer amounts may vary from the pay range listed above. As a contractor you'll supply a secure computer and highspeed internet; companysponsored benefits such as health insurance and PTO do not apply.
