Pay Range

Pay Range $62,400 - $65,000

Salary offers at Syracuse University will be based on education, experience, and relevant skills, as well as the academic or professional discipline of the position in the context of the home department, school, or college. Salary offers may also be influenced by prior relevant work or industry experience, where applicable. Faculty pay ranges are for 8.5 months’ salary unless otherwise specified.

Job Description

The Physics Department at Syracuse University invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher position in theoretical physics within Professor Alexander Maloney’s research group. The successful candidate will engage in foundational theoretical research in quantum field theory, gravity, and quantum information theory. Additionally, the candidate will have the opportunity to mentor students working on research projects within the group.

This position is part of a bargaining unit and is represented by the union SEIU , Local 200United.

Job Specific Qualifications

Experience in one or more of these specific research areas: conformal field theory, black holes, holography, quantum cosmology, quantum information theory, entanglement measures, and related problems in statistical mechanics and field theory.

  • Mentoring undergraduate and graduate students in theoretical physics research.
