You may also be asked to conduct site inspections and ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards. Temporary assignments offer valuable exposure to a variety of project types and allow you to collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, which can broaden your experience and enhance your professional network.

What skills and qualifications are needed to be a temporary structural engineer?

To thrive as a Temporary Structural Engineer, you need a solid background in civil or structural engineering, typically supported by a relevant degree and professional engineering licensure. Familiarity with industry-standard software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and structural analysis tools like SAP2000 or ETABS is crucial, along with knowledge of building codes. Strong problem-solving, communication, and time management skills help you excel in project-driven, often deadline-sensitive environments. These competencies ensure safe, efficient, and compliant structural designs within the limited timeframe of temporary assignments.
