Summary: 
The Field Support Technician – Solar performs support functions needed to operate and maintain utility scale renewable energy facilities. Fieldwork includes safely and effectively performing vegetation management duties, supporting field technicians and managers for general maintenance and inventory duties, help with custodial duties, shipping and receiving and any other assigned tasks as needed. Employee must be flexible to work in all other aspects required of plant maintenance, to ensure project success.
Please note, this is a temporary role. 
 
Requirements:   
  • Ability to work at night. 
  • Works collectively as part of small site team to ensure tasks are correctly prioritized and delivered, in a safe and prompt manner at the highest quality. 
  • Ensures building & ground maintenance as well as vegetation control policies are adhered to as required.  
  • Follows safety and security procedures.  
  • Operates a “0” turn mower in a safe manner. 
  • Uses appropriate hand tools in the appropriate manner for the specific task. 
  • Ensures good housekeeping practices for Site, Warehouse and O&M building. 
  • Maintains site equipment, facility tools and parts inventory. 
  • Assists with Annual Planned Maintenance as required. 
  • Write or sign and understand the JHA’s  
  • Work from procedures and work instructions when needed.  
  • Takes direction, identifies problems, develop solutions, in collaboration with others. 
  • Assists PV Technicians with troubleshooting and repair of electrical and/or mechanical equipment when needed. 
  • Assists with the replacement of components for a utility scale solar project as needed. 
  • Uses a CMMS system as well as spreadsheets for maintenance tracking. 
  • Adheres to the site safety policy, ensuring RES’s safety program is implemented.  
  • Accurately completes and submits daily required paperwork. 
  • Attends meetings as required.  
  • Reports potentially unsafe conditions to the appropriate person in charge immediately.  
  • Attends work regularly and punctually, as scheduled or expected. 
  • Complies with Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct and Company Policies & Procedures.
 
Safety:
  • Follows safety and security procedures and determines appropriate action.  Reports potentially unsafe conditions and uses materials and equipment properly.
  • Ensures that safety is the most important function, follows safe practices while working.
  • Reinforces safe behaviors and eliminates “at risk” behaviors.
  • Reports potentially unsafe conditions and uses materials and equipment properly.
  • Ensures Job Hazard Analysis (JHA’s) occurs before scopes of work commence.
  • Adheres to and understands standard operating procedures.
  • Receives job- and task-specific training prior to work commencing.
 
Qualifications:
  • High school/GED General Education required.
  • 1 year experience in a related maintenance position required.
  • Presents, supports, and leads-by-example with a safety and quality -oriented attitude.
  • Uses electrical tools, hand tools and machinery, safely and efficiently.
  • Learns and uses SCADA and other software control systems.  
  • Works in remote field conditions under all weather conditions with limited supervision. 
  • Assists with site safety meetings and site inductions.  
  • Participates with JSA, method statements.  
  • Participates and assists with Log-Out, Tag-Out (LOTO) if needed.  
  • Interfaces with co-workers and customers/ownership in a professional manner. 
  • Follows company NERC compliance programs as required.
  • Assists with tracking deliverables on site.
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions including high temperatures.
  • Functional competencies include teamwork, agility, attention to detail, customer focus and communication.
  • Domestic travel 5-15% required.
  • Valid Drivers License required.
 
Anticipated base salary range:  $21.00 - $25.00 
 
The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location.
