GENERAL SUMMARY:
The department is responsible for managing and overseeing the day-to-day functions of the homeless residential facilities that ensure a safe and supportive environment for clients and residents and collaborates with all departments to ensure physical resources are efficiently allocated. This includes overseeing facilities maintenance, food services, the clothing room, fleet management, and security operations.
GENERAL SUMMARY:
The temporary role is supporting the Clothing Room and Reception, with a special focus on the Back-to-School season. The person reports to the Director of Operations and receives a daily task list from the Clothing Room Coordinator. The person regularly receives donations, sorts, and displays seasonally appropriate apparel and will assist in the coordination of the Back-to-School drive for backpacks and school supplies. As part of the clothing room and reception team, will be scheduled to work reception covering meal breaks and staff absences.
This position is initially temporary and is expected to last 1-3 months. The preferred schedule is Monday-Friday 9am-5pm (40 hours per week). Consideration for a part-time schedule for qualified candidates who are available at a minimum Monday to Thursday from 12pm-5pm and all day Friday. While this assignment is temporary, candidates who demonstrate strong performance and are able to work a full-time schedule may be considered for a regular, full-time opportunity.
Temporary employees are eligible to receive 40 sicks hours of sick leave. Benefits for all employees include a free hot lunch, free off-street city parking.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Clothing Room
- Supports the coordinator in maintaining clothing inventory, displaying and stocking following seasonal schedule
- Support coordinator in receiving, organizing and distributing school supplies
- Assembles emergency clothing packages, regularly communicating with reception as needed or required
- With friendly and professional attitude, greets donors and receives donations
- Provides direction to volunteers, interns and vocational program participants on assigned shift
Reception
- Serve as back up support for the reception area, ensuring professional and courteous customer service to clients, visitors and community partners
- As needed, answer and route incoming multi-line telephone; taking messages and directing inquiries to appropriate staff or departments
- As needed, receive, sort, and distribute incoming mail and deliveries; assist with outgoing mail as needed.
- As needed, greet visitors, and schedule for appointments or direct visitor to appropriate staff member or department
- Facilitate in the distribution of emergency assistance items in accordance with agency procedures
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrates situational awareness, serving as the first point of contact to visitors to the building, and supporting high needs populations in the clothing room
- Demonstrates experience and ability to interact sensitively and respectfully with others
- Serve as a positive role model to volunteers and resident-clients
- Able and willing to honor the leadership, chain of command, standards and ministry objectives of ODM
