General Summary
The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) is responsible for evaluation, creation, and implementation of therapy plans, accurate and reliable data collection, consultation, and training with family and staff. SLPs will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to create and maintain therapy plans that address all speech and language and/or feeding needs of the clients. This position reports to the Center Manager-Speech Therapy & Director-Specialty Services.
The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) operates in a professional and clinical environment and will also be responsible for collecting data on target behaviors during sessions. The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) is responsible to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions, have the ability to read, analyze and responds to inquires or complaints from clients and effectively presents information to top management.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee may occasionally lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. This is full-time position and may be considered for a part-time position, and hours of work and days vary based on the needs of clients/business. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required, as needed.

Essential Functions, Duties & Responsibilities
Core duties and responsibilities include the following:
  • Maintain a comprehensive therapy plan for each client while maintaining 46 scheduled sessions per week unless otherwise directed by Director - Speech & Sr. VP-Clinical Services.
  • Speech and feeding session durations are scheduled for 30-minute appointments with frequency determined based on clinical recommendations.
  • Documentation responsibilities include: pre-authorizations, initial evaluations, re-evaluations, insurance reports, progress reports, and SOAP notes.
  • Templates for all documentation are available on the electronic database system used across the company.
  • Provide individual therapy to clients focusing on a variety of areas including: speech, language, feeding, AAC, and social skills.
  • Participate in collaboration with BCBAs, OTs, outside providers, and families to provide a consistent continuum of care for clients.
  • Maintain current certification with state specific licensing board and with American Speech Hearing Association (ASHA) while abiding by the ethical standards.
  • Represent facility to local ,state, and national organizations in a positive manner when attending professional seminars.
  • Provide input and assist in the ongoing growth and development.
  • Travel, as necessary, to other centers to participate in required trainings such as CPR, CPI, and professional development.
  • Uphold and maintain the core principles, policies and procedures and ensure HIPAA compliance.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Certifications Required
The following certifications and licensure are required for this position:
  • Permanent licensure provided by the state specific licensing board.
  • Temporary license must be obtained prior to starting Clinical Fellowship year if applicable.
  • Georgia: Georgia Secretary of State.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence as provided by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), if not in Clinical Fellowship Year.

  • Ability to maintain quality, safety and infection control standards.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as collaboration skills.
  • Ability to think creatively and adjust style and approach, as appropriate to explore different avenues as a way of embracing change and providing the highest quality of therapy.
  • Open to give and receive feedback and listen to and acknowledge the feelings, concerns, opinions and ideas of others in order to perform the task.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently with changing priorities and dependability, from any location.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize, meet deadlines, and produce high quality deliverables with a strong attention to details.
  • Reliable transportation and the ability to travel to different centers, as applicable.
  • Proficiency in use of basic technology systems such as Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Teams. Initial onboarding training includes basic overviews of these programs.
