Job description

Non-Instructional Paraeducator 
JOB GOAL:   Provide general clerical support to special education sites to ensure compliance with special education paperwork. Manage private student records and information in a timely manner under the direction of special education administrator.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Maintains files set up new student files, file private student paperwork, secures special education files, and organizes files according to district procedures, shredding appropriate documents prior to transfer of files. Ensure that all evaluation reports, information from outside sources, all meeting notices, test protocols etc. are filed chronologically in student files. Ensure consents to release/obtain information are completed and filed. At the end of the school year organize files to be sent to receiving school for student transitioning to the next building.
3. Develops and maintains database management systems for student information: maintain caseload lists, and ESR annual dates, paperwork timelines and teacher information as directed.
4. Assists Special Education Coordinators as needed to schedules IEP meetings, issue meeting notices, contact parents, upload documents, disseminate information to case managers, communicate with team members, arrange meeting locations, and calendar invitations.
5. Works with special education staff to process district paperwork such as data collection for September 30th and December 1st child count report, extended school year, indicator reporting, and ICT applications.
6. General Office & Other Duties. Photo copying, collating, word processing, faxing, creating forms, filing, ordering, organizing, copy/mailing documents to other districts/schools/agencies upon request and release, contact previous schools for records, emailing, communication, and mailing.
7. Attend meetings and trainings on special education processes and procedures as directed
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

















  • Maintains confidentiality as required and appropriate.
  • Demonstrates initiative, independence and decision making appropriate to the performance tasks of this position.
  • Provides well organized, accurate work.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum high school diploma with documented business and/or secretarial course work beyond high school level; college degree preferred.
  • Computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, internet and web-based systems.
  • Experience on various computer platforms required (ie Eschool, IEPPlus, Outlook, Google Docs).
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with Special Education forms and special education procedures preferred.


Additional Duties
Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the school office.

Qualification Profile

  • Graduation from high school.
  • Experience/Degree - office procedures and record keeping preferred.

    NUMBER OF MONTHS/DAYS: 12 Months - 261 Days
    Note:  Months/days will be pro-rated to start date.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 
    NOTE:  A minimum of a high school diploma or GED is required for all employees of the Seaford School District.

    SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:  All new state employees will be required to participate in the State of Delaware's Direct Deposit system.  With direct deposit, wage and salary payments are deposited in the employee's bank account via electronic funds transfer.
    All final candidates for employment must have a satisfactory criminal background check before being placed on contract/payroll as per State of Delaware regulations. Candidates must register through IdentoGo Delaware to make an appointment.  The cost of the criminal background check is $85 (expense borne by the prospective employee).  Final candidates must also receive a satisfactory child protection registry check.




















  • All final candidates for employment must have a satisfactory Child Protective Registry check. Information will be provided in the new hire packet. 
    Final candidates must also produce documentation of Mantoux skin test results for entrance to school system.
    The State of Delaware has initiated a lag pay policy which means that new employees will receive the first paycheck at the end of the second pay period of work.
