Job description

Eastern Greene Schools is seeking a licensed Registered Nurse (RN) to serve as a temporary Corporation Nurse during a maternity leave expected to begin around November 2026 and continue through approximately March 2027.


The Corporation Nurse supports the health needs of students and staff across Eastern Greene Schools' K–12 buildings. This position provides direct student care, administers medications, maintains required health documentation, supports students with chronic or complex medical needs, and works closely with school administrators, families, and staff to maintain a safe and healthy school environment.


We are looking for a team player who is upbeat, flexible, dependable, and willing to adjust to the needs of the school setting as they change from day to day. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working independently while also collaborating closely with school staff and administration.


Qualifications
  • Current Indiana Registered Nurse (RN) licensure
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification required
  • Experience working with children or in a school setting preferred
  • Strong communication, organizational, and decision-making skills
  • Knowledge of diabetes care, seizure disorders, allergies/anaphylaxis, and other student health conditions
  • Ability to maintain accurate and confidential student health records
  • Ability to work effectively with students and staff across K–12 grade levels
  • Willingness to stay current with training and procedures related to student medical needs
  • Ability to successfully complete all required background and employment screenings

Job Goals
  • Promote and protect the health and safety of students throughout Eastern Greene Schools
  • Provide timely and appropriate medical care to students during the school day
  • Reduce health-related barriers that may interfere with student learning
  • Support students with chronic, complex, or medically fragile conditions
  • Work collaboratively with school administrators, staff, and families to meet the changing health needs of students
  • Ensure continuity of school health services throughout the maternity leave period

Expectations
  • Assess symptomatic, injured, or ill students and determine appropriate care and follow-up
  • Administer and document student medications according to physician orders, school policies, and applicable requirements
  • Monitor controlled medications and maintain accurate medication counts
  • Communicate with parents or guardians regarding student health concerns, medication needs, and necessary follow-up
  • Provide care, monitoring, and medically necessary interventions for students with diabetes, seizure disorders, allergies/anaphylaxis, and other health conditions
  • Provide appropriate support to students with complex or medically fragile needs in accordance with physician orders and individualized health care plans
  • Maintain accurate student health records, including clinic visits, immunizations, medications, medical alerts, and other required information
  • Assist with required student health screenings and other school health initiatives as needed
  • Work closely with building administrators to address student and school health needs
  • Collaborate professionally with teachers, support staff, families, and outside medical providers as appropriate
  • Maintain student confidentiality and comply with applicable laws, policies, and procedures
  • Demonstrate flexibility and professionalism when responding to unexpected or changing student health needs
  • Demonstrate consistent reliability and preparedness in meeting daily schedules and assigned responsibilities
  • Perform additional health-related duties as assigned by school or district administration
