Job description

Infusion Nurse (RN)

Optimum Human + Southwest Women's Oncology | Albuquerque, New Mexico

Why This Role Matters

Every infusion represents a person placing their trust in us.

Some are fighting cancer. Some are pursuing recovery. Some are working to reclaim their health, vitality, and quality of life.

The Infusion Nurse is often the clinical professional who spends the most time with these patients during their treatment journey. That responsibility matters.

At Optimum and Southwest Women's Oncology, we believe clinical excellence and human compassion are not competing priorities - they are inseparable. We hire for attitude and aptitude above all else. Credentials matter, but who you are and how you grow matter more.

Who We Are

Southwest Women's Oncology (SWWO) is New Mexico's leading gynecologic oncology practice, delivering advanced cancer care with skill, courage, and compassion.

Optimum Human and Optimum Infusion extend that mission into performance medicine, infusion services, longevity, recovery, hormone optimization, medical weight loss, peptide therapies, hyperbaric medicine, aesthetics, and human performance.

Together, we operate as a single integrated platform committed to one mission:

We exist to deliver new possibilities in medical care, human performance, and health by uniting passion, knowledge, and skill.

The Opportunity

This is not a "clock in, pass meds, clock out" role. You will work alongside physicians, advanced practice providers, clinical leaders, and multidisciplinary teams across:

  • Oncology infusion and chemotherapy administration
  • Specialty and biologics infusion therapies
  • Hydration therapy
  • Hormone optimization programs
  • Performance and recovery medicine
  • Medical weight loss programs
  • Emerging infusion and wellness protocols

You'll practice nursing in a uniquely integrated environment and help shape what exceptional patient care looks like.

What You'll Own

Infusion & Clinical Care

  • Administer infusion therapies, chemotherapy, biologics, hydration, and specialty medications per physician orders and clinical protocols.
  • Monitor patients throughout treatment and intervene appropriately when adverse reactions occur.
  • Perform thorough patient assessments before, during, and after treatment.
  • Ensure proper handling, preparation, and administration of medications in accordance with safety standards.

Patient Education & Support

  • Educate patients and families on treatment plans, medications, side effects, and post-treatment care.
  • Provide emotional support and reassurance throughout the patient journey.
  • Help patients feel informed, safe, respected, and supported at every step.

Care Coordination

  • Collaborate with physicians, APPs, MAs, schedulers, and administrative teams for seamless care delivery.
  • Support scheduling and flow of infusion appointments to optimize the patient experience.
  • Communicate effectively with the care team regarding patient status and treatment updates.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate, timely, and complete patient records in EMR systems.
  • Follow all safety, regulatory, infection-control, and medication administration requirements.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify and contribute ideas to improve systems, processes, and patient outcomes.
  • Participate in huddles, quality initiatives, and training.
  • Raise standards through your example.

What Success Looks Like

First 90 Days

  • Independently managing assigned infusion patients.
  • Demonstrating mastery of clinical protocols.
  • Building trust with patients and teammates.
  • Consistently delivering accurate documentation.

First 6 Months

  • Trusted resource within the infusion team.
  • Contributing improvement ideas and process enhancements.
  • Demonstrating strong ownership and sound clinical judgment.

First Year

  • Viewed as a culture carrier and clinical leader.
  • Helping elevate patient experience and operational excellence.
  • Consistently embodying the Optimum Standard.

Who Thrives Here

We want people who bring relentless positivity, a hunger to learn, and the drive to elevate everyone around them. You will likely thrive if:

  • You take ownership rather than waiting for direction.
  • You believe details matter.
  • You enjoy solving problems and seek continuous improvement.
  • You care deeply about patients and their families.
  • You value teamwork and accountability equally.
  • You're coachable, curious, and committed to mastery.

What You Bring

Required

  • Active RN license in New Mexico.
  • 1โ€“3+ years of nursing experience in infusion.
  • Strong IV therapy and infusion treatment skills.
  • Excellent clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong communication, patient education, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure.
  • High level of professionalism, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care.

Preferred

  • Oncology experience and/or ONS Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certification.
  • Experience administering chemotherapy.
  • Experience in specialty infusion settings.

Our Culture

We act with courage and embrace accountability.

We serve with precision and hold ourselves to impeccable standards - then raise them.

We reject mediocrity and the comfort of "good enough."

We measure success not only by outcomes, but by the integrity, excellence, and humanity we bring to every interaction.

Way Better. Extraordinary by Design.

If you crave mastery, meaning, and measurable impact - welcome home.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary
  • Health benefits
  • 401(k)
  • Paid time off
  • Professional development and continuing education support
  • Opportunity to grow within the Optimum Platform

This is a full-time, on-site position at our Albuquerque, New Mexico office.
