5th Grade Long Term Substitute Teacher (Math and Equity Studies) - Temporary Assignment at Academy of Alameda Share on X Print Application Deadline Until Filled Date Posted 4/21/2026 Contact Amy McGeorge Number of Openings 1 Salary Single Rate $69,000/ annual onwards depending on experience Annually Length of Work Year up to 5 months Employment Type Full Time Job Summary Job Summary 5th Grade Long Term Substitute Teacher (Math and Equity Studies) - Temporary Assignment Job Description Classification: Certificated DOL Status: Full-time Exemption Status: Exempt Manager: Principal Supervisor: Principal Direct Reports: N/A Summary of Position The Academy is seeking a full-time, highly qualified long term substitute teacher for a fifth grade math and equity studies classroom from August 2026 through October 2026. The long term substitute will work as part of a dynamic team that includes close collaboration with other teachers, the instructional coach and support staff to deliver strong academic instruction. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Plan, prepare and deliver lessons using the adopted curriculum to facilitate learning.

Assign and grade student work and maintain accurate records of students' progress. Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies. Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures in accordance with the restorative practices of the school.

Participate in department/grade-level, school, and parent meetings. Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs, including writing report cards and facilitating report card conferences. Demonstrate skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic and ability backgrounds, including supporting students with Individualized Education Plans.

Other duties as assigned.
