Description
In the absence of the full time classroom teacher, the substitute teacher provides instruction, encourages student progress, and manages the learning environment. Substitute teacher(s) are an integral part of our school's educational team, and fill the temporary vacancies created when faculty, teaching assistants/aides or receptionist's are absent or on leave from the school. The substitute leads the classroom instruction by using lesson plans, providing support to students in understanding subject matter, and ensuring that regular classroom routines are followed.
Primary Job Requirements:
  • Follow all CAK policy and procedures, and as well as any applicable state and federal laws.
  • Manage the classroom effectively to promote student participation, minimize distractions, and maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Supervise students both in and out of the classroom.
  • With the exception of discipline, substitute teachers will assume the same responsibilities as the regular teacher, including lunch duty or other daily assignments.
  • Be knowledgeable on all safety and security protocol(s) as established by administration.
  • Follow lesson plans provided by the regular teacher to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience for students.
  • Record attendance according to school policy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by building level administration.

  • A love for the Lord; support the mission of CAK, and possess a sincere, desire to serve all those associated with CAK.
  • Attend and actively participate in a local Christian church.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Possess knowledge of school: mission, philosophy, day-to-day operations.
  • Ability to work well with others, including administrators, faculty, staff, students, parents, and the community.
  • Demonstrate flexibility.
  • High school diploma or GED required, Associate degree or higher preferred.
