Responsibilities
As a Pharmacy Purchasing Coordinator you will:
  • Maintain optimal pharmacy inventory by managing minimum/maximum stock levels, forecasting needs, and purchasing from both wholesalers and internal warehouses.
  • Actively manage and resolve drug backorders, including sourcing alternatives from other pharmacies or suppliers.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to drug purchasing and inventory management.
  • Consistently report "temporary out" products to the wholesaler's customer service team to ensure up-to-date supply chain communication.
  • Inform pharmacy management promptly of any critical drug shortages that may necessitate changes in patient therapy.
  • Adjust inventory min/max thresholds in response to volume changes or new business demands.
  • Support the implementation of new contracts and programs across field pharmacy locations.
  • Monitor and manage participation in strategic purchasing initiatives and cost-saving programs.
  • Ensure all newly required drug products are acquired and correctly entered into the system.
  • Proactively identify and act on opportunities for cost reduction or operational efficiency in purchasing and inventory processes.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support pharmacy operations.

Qualifications
Qualifications
Required:
  • Associate degree or two years of college education
    • One year of professional experience or Bachelor's degree
  • Knowledge of practices and procedures for procurement of materials, components, equipment, and services

Desired:
  • Bachelor's degree
