DESCRIPTION

Under the direction of the Assistant Manager of Emerging Technologies, the Endpoint Systems Engineer I is responsible for the design, implementation, and management of endpoint systems, software deployment, and lifecycle support of desktop and mobile computing environments. This role focuses on maintaining a secure, consistent, and efficient endpoint environment through modern management tools and engineering best practices.

The Endpoint Systems Engineer must be proficient in documenting repeatable processes and supporting enterprise endpoint solutions, including operating systems, device configuration, software distribution, and troubleshooting across Windows, iOS, and ChromeOS platforms.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A combination of education and experience may be considered.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. An equivalent combination of education, technical certifications, and relevant experience may be considered.

Experience:

  • Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience administering enterprise endpoint management solutions, including device deployment, configuration, software distribution, patch management, and/or lifecycle management in a complex technology environment.

  • Performs pre-production installation, evaluation and testing of software, images and updates.

  • Designs, develops, and maintains standard endpoint configurations and deployment profiles.

  • Executes and documents repeatable procedures and processes in support of endpoint management.

  • Implements and supports modern endpoint management solutions including Microsoft Intune and Google Admin Console.

  • Supports endpoint provisioning including imaging, zero-touch deployment, and lifecycle management.

  • Troubleshoots endpoint, operating system, and mobile device issues and implements remediation strategies.

  • Supports patch management and ensures compliance with security standards.

  • Administers and supports iOS and ChromeOS devices.

  • Utilizes Information Technology Service Management (ITSM) systems to manage service requests and meet service level agreements (SLAs).

  • Collaborates with internal teams and departments to resolve technology issues.

  • Maintains inventory and software licensing records.

  • Works with vendors and contractors to resolve system issues.

  • Maintains knowledge of current technologies, trends, and best practices.

  • Provides backup support as required.

EMPLOYMENT INFORMATION

Compensation

This is a 12-month per year position in the Howard County Education Association, Educational Support Professionals (HCEA-ESP) employee unit. The current salary range for this position is Grade 25 on the Technical Central Office and School Based salary scale, $89,026 - $141,202. Step placement will be in accordance with the salary procedures of the Howard County Public School System and the HCEA-ESP Master Agreement which considers relevant prior experience. Under the Fair Labor Standards Act, this position is exempt from overtime.

Retirement

Membership in the Maryland State Retirement Agency (MSRA) pension plan is a mandatory condition of employment for all employees who meet the eligibility and membership criteria defined in the State Personnel and Pensions Article and the Code of Maryland Regulations (COMAR). A qualifying employee cannot reject membership, nor can an ineligible employee elect membership. The annual contribution to the pension plan will be 7% of an employee's annual salary.
