Job description

The Sales Data Analyst is responsible for identifying, understanding, and combining data sources and analytical techniques to empower the sales team and leaders with data driven actionable insights that improve revenue generation, customer targeting and operational efficiency. Position optimizes data quality by reviewing and interpreting data, analyzing results, and working with business owners to improve data information. This includes the use of descriptive analytics tools and techniques to summarize, visualize, and report on historical data to drive actionable strategic decision making.
  1. Collaborate with business stakeholders to deliver highly effective data solutions using descriptive data analytics and business knowledge, leveraging tools such as SQL, Excel, Power BI, Tableau, and Qlik for reporting and actionable visualization.

  1. Ensure excellence through fact-based decision making by utilizing reports, dashboards, trend analyses, and data auditing practices (with tools such as Excel, SQL scripts, Power BI dataflows, etc) to create operational awareness and ensure decisions are based on accurate and trustworthy information.

  1. Analyze relationships between financial results and sales performance data to identify historical trends, variances, and cost drivers. Track, identify trends and opportunities using KPI's like conversion rates, pipeline velocity, and quota attainment.

  1. Develop and propose new metrics and work across the organization to make actionable intelligence available to business stakeholders. Include root cause research and descriptive summaries to identify process breakdowns.

  1. Gather pertinent data from large datasets and organize it logically. Apply ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) skills and tools (such as Alteryx, Talend, or SSIS) to harmonize disparate data sets. Interpret data using statistical summaries, Excel pivot tables, SQL queries, and BI visualization tools (e.g., Birst, Power BI, Tableau) to provide ongoing reports and dashboards.

  1. Create visualizations such as charts, heatmaps, and scorecards that allow the sales team to quickly understand historical performance while incorporating storytelling techniques to highlight key insights and effectively communicate the narrative behind the data.

  1. Ensure data integrity by monitoring data quality, removing corrupt data, and establish processes to ensure accuracy and consistency across all reporting systems.

  1. Assist in resolving MRP and planning discrepancies, providing ad-hoc descriptive reports as needed.
