Job description

Position Information This is a continuous recruitment and may close at any time without notice. Examination Schedule: Written Exam: Qualified candidates will be notified of the testing date five days prior to the examination Examination: Written Exam: (100%): Will be conducted for the purpose of assessing the applicant's knowledge of the principles of gasoline and diesel engine mechanics as applied to maintenance and repair; and the procedures, tools equipment, and materials used in the repair and maintenance of both light and heavy motorized equipment; knowledge of smog control devices and diagnostic equipment. Applicants must attain at least 70% score on each phase of the examination process.

Minimum Qualifications/Employment Standards: Three (3) years of experience repairing heavy motorized equipment, including one (1) year of experience with diesel engines. Possession of a valid California Class A Driver's License required to successfully pass the six (6) months probationary period. Successful candidates will remain on the eligible list for a period of twelve-months, unless specified otherwise by the Civil Service Commission.
