Temporary Accounts Payable Specialist (Hybrid)
Location: Parsippany, NJ (Hybrid - 4 days onsite)
Employment Type: Temporary Assignment
A well-established consumer products organization is seeking a Temporary Accounts Payable Specialist to join its finance team. This position will provide support across daily accounts payable operations, including invoice processing, vendor account maintenance, payment preparation, and month-end accounting activities. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable managing competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Review, process, and accurately record vendor invoices while ensuring proper coding to general ledger accounts and cost centers.
  • Manage invoice workflow by coordinating approvals and prioritizing payments based on business requirements.
  • Perform invoice verification through 2-way and 3-way matching procedures to ensure accuracy before payment release.
  • Review vendor documentation and confirm required tax forms, including W-9 compliance, are received prior to payment.
  • Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies, including reconciling vendor statements and addressing account variances.
  • Support month-end close activities by assisting with required accounts payable reporting and accounting tasks.
  • Analyze expense documentation and ensure transactions are recorded accurately within the appropriate accounts.
  • Assist with sales tax-related reporting by reviewing applicable requirements on processed invoices.
  • Successfully manage multiple tasks while maintaining accuracy and meeting established deadlines.
Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in accounts payable, accounting operations, or a related finance support role.
  • Strong understanding of invoice processing, vendor reconciliation, and general ledger coding.
  • Experience with 2-way and 3-way invoice matching preferred.
  • Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while effectively managing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and experience using ERP/accounting systems preferred.
  • Prior experience within the consumer packaged goods (CPG), manufacturing, or similar industry environments is a plus.
  • Ability to work onsite four days per week in Parsippany, NJ.

Pay Range: $28/hr-$30/hr
