JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

The Schatz Center for Tree Molecular Genetics in the Department of Ecosystem Science and Management currently hasanopening fora research technologist in forest genetics.The successful candidate willassistin research on projects associated with conservation andrestorationgenetics of forest trees.Duties willinclude setting up andmaintainingexperiments in the lab, greenhouses, or field. This will include but is not limited to processing plant material for sequencing, including DNA extractions and gel electrophoresis, field data collection and entry, field research plot maintenance,greenhouse maintenance,organizing lab equipment and supplies, and contributing to the maintenance of shared lab spaces.The positionrequiresattention to detail and an ability to follow instructions. The candidate must be organized and able to work independently as well as within a group. Interest in plant biology, geography, and the environment is beneficial, experiencein the use of Rfor statistical analysis andpreviousexperience in the molecular lab is considered an asset.

The candidate must have a valid driver'slicenseand successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will berequiredin addition to standard background checks. Must be willing to work in a variety of environments, including outdoorsand in the greenhouse.

This is a temporary position with 35-40 hours/week for a short term period.

BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES

Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies.
