Job description

Job Summary
The CLASIC (Computational Linguistics, Analytics, Search and Informatics) program at CU Boulder encourages applications for the Temporary Marketing Assistant role! This role will support the growth and visibility of the CLASIC program by building relationships with local industry partners, identifying and fostering internship opportunities for students, and promoting the program to prospective students. Responsibilities include attending local AI and technology networking events to identify relevant professional development opportunities and potential employer partnerships, conducting outreach to businesses to develop internships, creating promotional materials, and collaborating with other CU departments to increase awareness of CLASIC and related bachelor's-to-master's (BAM) pathways through classroom visits, student events, and other recruitment activities.

Who We Are
The Departments of Linguistics and Computer Science have teamed up to offer the first truly interdisciplinary professional master's in computational linguistics. The CLASIC (Computational Linguistics, Analytics, Search and Informatics) professional master's degree is geared towards helping students find employment directly after graduation in Natural Language Processing, a growing and lucrative field.
CU is unique in its emphasis on having computational linguists undertake study in Computer Science and Linguistics in equal amounts. Computer science algorithms are needed to model language as a process, but optimal performance can only be achieved through understanding the nuances of language.
What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
  • Attend monthly Boulder AI meetups to identify interesting talks for CLASIC students to attend and identify local businesses who may have/develop internship opportunities for CLASIC students.
  • Establish contacts with local businesses to identify and help develop internship opportunities for CLASIC students.
  • Develop informational materials about CLASIC and work with other CU departments (e.g., CS, Data Science, Info Science) to promote CLASIC to undergraduate students, visit classes and events to talk about the program and existing BAM paths.
  • Maintain CLASIC social media posts up to date.

What You Should Know
This is a part-time, temporary role that we anticipate lasting the academic school year. The role will typically work 5 hours/week but hours may vary depending on time of year and team needs. On campus work will be required as needed.

The salary range for this position is $25-30hr.
