General Description POSTING TYPE: Open to all Dakota County Employees DEPARTMENT: Elections HOURS: up to full time for up to 10 months HIRING PAY: $24/hour LOCATION: Hastings UNION: None CLOSE DATE: Friday, August 21, 2026, at 4:30 p.m. This posting is ONLY open to Dakota County Government employees. WHAT YOU'LL DO The Temporary Election Lead assists elections staff in conducting election administration tasks, supporting department programs, and related duties as assigned

They will also serve as a team lead for and assist in training of temporary elections staff. Minimum Qualifications At least 18 years of age A Minnesota resident for at least 20 days A citizen of the United States Able to read, write, and speak the English language Eligible to vote in Minnesota High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) Duties & Responsibilities These examples do not include all possible tasks in this work and do not limit the assignment of related tasks in any position of this classification. Regular attendance according to the position's management approved work schedule is required for all positions.

Temporary Election Lead Serve as the team lead Assist in training temporary election staff Issue ballots to county residents at county service centers. Accurately compile statistics related to issued and received ballots Process received ballots Prepare, stuff and/or collate election related materials Answer questions from the voters and others regarding elections Prepare and /or enter data into the state voter registration system Lead teams of temporary elections staff in the above tasks Other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities and Work Environment Knowledge Minnesota election processes, laws, policies and procedures Ability to prepare clear and concise reports.

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to work effectively with the public, department and County associates in a professional manner. Ability to organize work efficiently and effectively.

Ability to use computers and computer programs proficiently Ability to perform accurate detail work with figures, statistical records, filing proofreading and spelling. Ability to effectively and efficiently work under pressure in a highly visible work environment during elections. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed in a county office building.

Lifting requirement of up to 20 pounds on an occasional basis. Position may require travel within Dakota County and will require occasional use of a personal vehicle. Equipment that may be used include, but is not limited to, ballot counter, computer, tablet, printer, telephone, calculator, copy and scanning machines.
