Job description

Chemist- Distillery

The Chemist supports all areas of distillery operations—including distilling, processing, bottling, and warehousing—from a quality and analytical standpoint. This role focuses on laboratory testing, equipment operation, and ensuring products meet quality standards.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform testing on fermentation, distilling, processing, and finished product samples
  • Support production teams through analytical testing and quality oversight
  • Operate and troubleshoot lab equipment (YSI, DMA, GC, GC/MS)
  • Accurately record, analyze, and report test results
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on lab instruments and testing methods
  • Manage sample retention (organization, labeling, disposal)
  • Participate in daily sensory testing/tastings
  • Travel between two production facilities as needed

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, or related science
  • Hands-on experience with YSI, DMA, GC, and GC/MS
  • Strong understanding of lab safety and documentation practices
  • Experience working in a union environment
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs repetitively
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Valid driver’s license

Preferred Experience:
  • Quality control in manufacturing, distilling, or beverage production
  • Experience training or supporting others on lab equipment
  • High attention to detail, especially in sensory testing

Work Environment:
  • Fully on-site across lab, production, and warehouse settings
  • Regular movement between departments and two plant locations
  • Exposure to standard manufacturing conditions (noise, temperature changes)
  • PPE required in accordance with safety and quality guidelines

This is a Contract position based out of Clermont, KY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $33.00/hr.
