Job description

The Food Service Associates are to prepare, serve, and clean up in a high-volume camp dining hall setting. This temporary position involves working with diverse groups, including children, youth, and adults, and requires adherence to food safety standards. 


Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serving Food: Setting up buffet lines, serving food on the line, and managing salad bars.
  • Food Preparation: Assisting cooks with basic preparation, such as preparing salads, slicing meats, and preparing vegetables.
  • Cleaning and Sanitation: Operating commercial dishwashers; cleaning dining tables, chairs, and service lines; sweeping and mopping floors; and removing trash.
  • Stocking: Assisting with inventory, receiving, and stocking food items and supplies.
  • Customer Service: Interacting with campers, staff, and visitors in a friendly manner. 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Safety and Sanitation: Basic knowledge of food sanitation practices, including proper handling, food safety, and the ability to maintain a clean work environment.
  • Communication: Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 25–50 pounds.
