Job SummaryWe are seeking a Project Accountant responsible for end-to-end financial management, billing, administrative coordination, and compliance support across assigned projects. This role partners closely with Project Managers and cross functional teams to ensure accurate client billing, effective budget tracking, reliable forecasting, and timely month end close activities.
The Project Accountant supports project setup and ongoing administration, oversees contract and subcontractor compliance, reviews expenses and invoices, and resolves variances while ensuring adherence to contractual terms, internal controls, and regulatory requirements. This role also contributes to financial reporting, audits, and ad hoc analysis to support informed project and leadership decision-making.
This position is fully remote and open to candidates located anywhere in the United States.Responsibilities & Qualifications

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Project Managers to support contract documents, change orders, amendments, approvals, and additional services related to project accounting and billing
  • Maintain contract management fees and ensure accuracy of project financial records
  • Set up and maintain project profiles and administrative data within Deltek Vision
  • Monitor and interpret company financial metrics and assess overall project health
  • Participate in project kickoff meetings to support financial and administrative readiness
  • Train, guide, and support Project Assistants, contributing to knowledge sharing and team development
  • Review project Work in Progress (WIP) and Accounts Receivable monthly to support timely billing and collections
  • Provide ongoing administrative coordination and followup to ensure compliance with internal processes and contractual requirements
  • Collaborate with Corporate Finance and the Project Accounting team on reporting, audits, close activities, and special initiatives as needed


Qualifications:

  • Twoyear college degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with 2+ years of professional experience in project cost accounting or project financial administration
  • Experience in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry is highly preferred; candidates from other professional services or consulting environments are also encouraged to apply
  • Experience with Deltek Vision or VantagePoint is a plus
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Clientfocused mindset, with a commitment to delivering accurate, timely, and thoughtful solutions
  • Clear and professional communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and roles
