Job description

The expected salary range for this position is $29.29 - $34.42. Employees in specific high cost of labor locations in the United States (such as San Francisco, CA and Seattle, WA) may qualify for a geographic differential. Overview
Compassion is looking for an accountant to join our Finance team from October to December 2026. He or she will provide support while completing daily, weekly, and monthly US accounting processes. You will work with other accountants on the team to ensure the timely and accurate recording of routine monthly entries and account reconciliations. The role may require running ad-hoc reports and investigating issues as assigned. You will also be responsible for preparing appropriate supporting documentation.
Please note: This is a temporary position from October to December 2026.
What will you do?
  • Maintain a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Be a consistent witness for Jesus Christ, maintaining a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of Compassion, and faithfully uphold Compassion's ministry in prayer.
  • Act as an advocate to raise the awareness of the needs of children. Understand Christ's mandate to protect children. Commit to and prioritizes child protection considerations in all decision-making, tasks and activities across the ministry.
  • Abide by all behavioral expectations in Compassion's Statement of Commitment to Child Protection and Code of Conduct. Report any concerns of abuse, neglect or exploitation of children through Compassion's internal reporting process and appropriately support responses to incidents if they occur.
  • Uphold and engage in Compassion's core Cultural Behaviors.
  • Participate in the monthly close processes, performing duties such as preparing professional documentation for audits.
  • Prepare routine journal entries in Workday, primarily for banking.
  • Collect and prepare supporting evidence for journal entries, including running reports and verifying their accuracy.
  • Ensure accuracy of ledger entries, and reconciling the subledger to the general ledger.
  • Prepare reconciliations for general ledger accounts, sub-leger activity, and external statements.
  • Stay up-to-date with any accounting policies or standards which are relevant to the role, including any changes or updates.
