Job description

Job Summary
A Laboratory Technician opportunity is available in Madison, AL for a fast-paced manufacturing and production lab environment supporting industrial coating color matching over metal substrates. This contract/temporary role is ideal for someone with 1-2 years of hands-on lab, manufacturing, plant, paint, chemical, or industrial production experience who is looking for a stable, long-term opportunity with potential full-time conversion.
The Laboratory Technician will work closely with scientists and production teams to prepare, measure, mix, and evaluate color samples to meet customer specifications. This is a strong opportunity for a reliable, safety-focused candidate who enjoys detailed technical work, structured training, supportive leadership, and a team-oriented environment where accuracy and consistency matter.
Key Responsibilities
- Match color and gloss to customer-requested samples using established lab and production procedures.
- Measure, weigh, and mix colorants accurately to support industrial coating sample development.
- Work with scientists to confirm color matches meet expected performance and quality standards.
- Create, label, and organize standards and customer samples with a high level of accuracy.
- Obtain raw materials and supplies from production areas while maintaining proper inventory handling practices.
- Maintain clean, safe, and organized workspaces while following chemical hygiene and safety standards.
Compensation and Benefits
- $20.00 per hour during training.
- $21.00 per hour once moved to off-shift.
- Training schedule for first 4 weeks: Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
- Regular schedule after training: Monday through Friday, 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM.
- Contract/temporary opportunity with potential full-time conversion.

Maintaining proper housekeeping in the workspace and raw materials storage areas
Following chemical hygiene and safety standards at all times
Reading and following measurements accurately by gallons, pints, ounces, and fractions of ounces
