Job description

Step into a day on our finishing team

You start your morning at our Milwaukee shop, checking tools and materials before heading to a residential renovation. With guidance from expert finishers, you prep surfaces so every coat lays down flawlessly. By afternoon, youโ€™re back in the finishing facilityโ€”mixing stain to nail a custom tone for cabinet doors and learning the subtleties of spray technique. The day wraps with careful touch-ups, cleanup, and staging for tomorrowโ€™s commercial site.

What youโ€™ll handle
  • Thorough surface prep: sanding, cleaning, scraping, patching, and masking
  • Assisting with coating applications: walls, ceilings, and trim paint; stains, sealers, varnishes, and specialty finishes
  • Mixing paints and stains to achieve precise color and viscosity
  • Supporting high-detail finishing on cabinets, furniture, doors, and architectural woodworkโ€”both in-shop and on-site
  • Loading/unloading materials and organizing tools, equipment, and work areas
  • Taping off zones, covering fixtures, and protecting occupied spaces
  • Inspecting and performing touch-ups to meet exacting quality standards
  • Following all jobsite safety procedures and protocols
Where youโ€™ll work
  • Field: a mix of residential and commercial projects across the Milwaukee area
  • Shop: a dedicated finishing facility with spray booths and staining areas
  • Tools and methods: brushes, rollers, and spray equipment
  • Environment: exposure to paints, stains, wood dust, and fumes with appropriate PPE
What you bring
  • 0โ€“2+ years in painting, staining, or construction labor (entry-level welcome)
  • Physical readiness to lift, carry, and stay on your feet for extended periods
  • Comfort using hand and power tools safely
  • Meticulous attention to detailโ€”critical for fine finishing
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn color matching, staining techniques, and coatings
Core capabilities
  • Surface preparation (sanding, patching, masking)
  • Fundamentals of painting and coating application
  • Consistency, precision, and follow-through
  • Team-first attitude and reliability
Helpful background
  • Industrial construction
  • Drywall installation
  • Finish and rough carpentry
  • Industrial & commercial painting
