THIS IS A SEASONAL POSITION WITH NO BENEFITS THAT RUNS FROM MARCH THROUGH OCTOBER.
DIVISION: Cemetery
JOB SUMMARY:
Employees in this class are under supervision of Division Foreman or Manager. Work is performed in a variety of parks and recreation maintenance and construction tasks. Examples of work performed : works in parks construction or maintenance projects such as mowing, weed-eating, mulching, landscaping, maintaining athletic fields, repairing and installing playground and park equipment, painting and repairing equipment, etc; performs work in an unskilled or semi-skilled nature when necessary; inspects equipment and performs routine maintenance on a regular basis, assist with departmental special events, performs related work as required. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions
Knowledge of tools and equipment to be used in performance of duties
Ability to operate light motor vehicle and mowing equipment
Ability to follow oral and written instructions
Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with the public and other employees
REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must possess a valid TN driver's license.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
A high school education or equivalent is preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Physical:
Requires good hand/eye coordination and dexterity while using tools and operating tractor, mower, etc. Some lifting of heavy materials; frequent stooping and crouching while working in flower beds.
Environmental:
Exposed to extreme weather conditions, noise and dirt.
