BASIC PURPOSE
Location: Blue Bell Campus
**This position requires the PA Child Abuse Clearance, PA State Police, and the FBI Clearance prior to the first day of employment.
Basic Purpose of the Job:
The Ceramics Non-Credit Trainer possess the professional knowledge and skill in ceramic design and creation to oversee the advanced ceramic students who have unstructured time in the studio to create and finish work independently. The Ceramics Trainer has experience in the proper techniques of wheel throwing and hand building to guide students' ability to create professionally designed ceramic pieces. Also, the Ceramics Trainer has experience maintaining and safely using kilns.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties:
The Ceramics Non-Credit Trainer:
  • distributes supplies/materials to students.
  • sets-up, prepares, and provides maintenance of the kilns for proper firing, baking, and/or drying.
  • monitors students on the proper use of the studio/equipment and the safe handling of materials.
  • instructs students on the proper techniques of wheel throwing and hand building to create ceramic pieces.
  • calibrates kilns for proper firing, baking, and/or drying of ceramic pieces based upon material composition.
  • completes other assignments and duties as assigned by the Dean of Liberal Arts

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Qualifications:
  • B.F.A. required
  • Experience working in a Ceramics studio required
  • Experience firing kilns required
