Summary
When a U.S. Navy ship needs repairs, they call us. Join our team as we keep the most powerful Navy the world has known afloat and ready to serve! This ESU Production Manager position will support Elevator Support Unit(ESU) Amphibious Ships by supervising a variety of skilled trades in the maintenance and technical tasks on aircraft carrier elevators, weapons elevators, and vertical stores conveyors. You will provide quality technical supervision and guidance in daily operations of the Elevator Support Unit (ESU) Team in accordance with the technical references applicable to each task. This position is located in San Diego, CA. Travel within and outside of the continental United States maybe required.
What You Will Do
  • Plans, prepares, issues and controls production schedules and coordinates with material requirements toensure a controlled flow of approved materials timed to meet production requirements.
  • Advises higher management and ship customers of the status of work in progress, material availability, andpotential production problems to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials and services are provided asneeded.
  • Schedules equipment and personnel, confirms material supply and demands, prepares work orders orpurchase requests for the production or purchase of components or parts based on a master productionschedule, shop load and inventory requirements.
  • Coordinates interdepartmental activity with quality assurance, manufacturing, purchasing, engineering,inventory control, traffic, etc.; schedules and expedites the movement of parts by means of move orders,stock transfers and requests for shipping orders.
  • Attends production meetings and works with ship's personnel on the progress of jobs and provides technicalin-process review of progress along with recommendation for corrective action.

What You Must Have
  • 6 years relevant progressive experience with Bachelors in related field; 4 years relevant progressiveexperience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 10 years relevantprogressive experience.
  • Must have 10+ years of hands-on repair and maintenance experience with navy aircraft carrier elevators, weapons elevators, and vertical stores conveyors.
  • Must have a current, valid DoD Secret Security Clearance.
  • Must have experience supervising a variety of skilled trades in the maintenance and technical tasks on aircraft carrier elevators, weapons elevators, and vertical stores conveyors.
  • Must have a high level of knowledge of the mechanical, hydraulic and electrical system of shipboard equipment, specifically aircraft elevators, weapons/cargo elevators, vertical package conveyors, and associated equipment.
  • Must have a proficient knowledge of the Navy Quality Assurance Program, NAVSEA Standard Items, technical manuals, and Safety Policies.
  • Must have experience collaborating with Planning and Scheduling personnel to ensure Work Packages are generated promptly and adhere to QA technical requirements.
  • Must have experience working with logistics personnel to ensure required materials and repair parts are identified and ordered promptly for upcoming repairs.
  • Must have experience processing and coordinating various administrative, training, security and logisticalrequirement for personnel to support customers locally and abroad.
  • Must have experience writing FWPs and WAFs for aircraft carrier maintenance availabilities.
  • Must have experience in the administration requirements associated with the Navy Quality Assurance Program (NQAP), 3M and supply system.
  • Must have experience coordinating with ship's leadership for scheduling personnel support, temporary services, and other technical and administrative requirement, such as WAFs and Tag-outs, to ensure the proper and safe accomplishment of all assigned tasks.
  • Must have experience providing engineering production management support, planning, coordination and supervision of HM&E shipboard maintenance team personnel.

Physical Requirements
Must be able to board aircraft carriers and climb up and down steep stairs or ladders to visit job sites in an industrial or shipboard environment and attend meetings. Normally not required to lift more than 40 pounds.
