About the Opportunity

This is a permanent, full-time career opportunity. If selected, you will be hired directly as a regular employee of the organization we represent, placing you on their payroll and making you eligible for full corporate benefits from day one. This is not a temporary, contract, or "temp-to-hire" role. Operating out of a high-tech central command hub, this position is ideal for an experienced HVAC or building automation professional seeking a strategic, fast-paced, and highly critical infrastructure monitoring role.

Purpose

The Building Management Systems (BMS) Command Center Specialist provides advanced oversight and technical surveillance of complex building environmental, mechanical, and safety systems across multi-facility corporate infrastructures. Operating in a centralized command center environment, this professional utilizes software engineering tools and automated diagnostics to maintain a safe, strictly compliant, and climate-controlled environment for patients, clinical staff, and visitors. Additionally, this role serves as the critical communication pivot and emergency response redundancy, coordinating logistics with field engineers, security, contractors, and local government officials (fire/police departments) during high-pressure system failures or emergency situations.

Responsibilities
  • 24/7/365 Central System Surveillance: Monitor data displays to provide continuous surveillance and troubleshoot real-time failures across building automation, fire, life-safety, and climate control infrastructure systems.
  • Building Automation & Diagnostics: Perform complex operational checks and fault detection diagnostics utilizing direct digital controls (DDC) and software tools. Maintain and service programmable controllers to ensure optimal HVAC performance.
  • Field Engineer Collaboration: Communicate and collaborate closely with field mechanics to immediately isolate and resolve system failures, initiating emergency work orders through the corporate facilities management software.
  • Emergency & Incident Response Coordination: Serve as the critical communications liaison between on-call maintenance teams, dispatch, security, facility executives, municipal fire/police departments, and third-party contractors during emergency situations.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Data Integrity: Maintain absolute data integrity for all compliance logs, records, and trend data. Evaluate adverse trends or potential vulnerabilities, advising the facilities compliance team and recommending immediate corrective actions.
  • Construction & Programming Support: Partner with senior engineering teams during facility construction, capital improvement, or renovation projects to assist with the installation, configuration, and programming of advanced building management systems.
  • Pneumatic Tube Systems Management: Troubleshoot, test, and perform operational checks on integrated material logistics systems, including specialized pneumatic tube networks, to ensure continuous clinical operations.
Minimum Essential Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Technical Experience: A minimum of four (4) years of progressive experience in commercial mechanical/electrical building maintenance, or a technical infrastructure monitoring environment. Experience working within a major hospital or complex campus setting is highly preferred.
  • Automation Mastery: Practical working knowledge of BACnet control systems and direct digital building systems control is required.
  • Preferred Platforms: Hands-on experience or familiarity with Siemens, Automated Logic, Voltec Control Systems, or Swisslog Pneumatic Tube Systems is considered a distinct asset.
  • Apprenticeship/Trade Background: Completed trade school training or a formal apprenticeship program in electrical, HVAC, or mechanical maintenance is highly advantageous.
  • Critical Thinking: Proven ability to rapidly interpret blueprints, synthesize conflicting operational data, and execute swift, logical corrective actions during high-stress emergency scenarios.
  • Leadership Aptitude: Prior experience in a supervisory or group-lead capacity (minimum of one year preferred) to help guide emergency protocols and mentor rotating field technicians.
Performance-Based Earning Potential

This position features an established compensation structure designed to reward technical specialization, system mastery, and emergency dispatch competency. Through sustained performance, mastery of the network's proprietary automation architecture, and annual operational evaluations over time, employees have the structural opportunity to earn up to $48.21 per hour within the corporate pay scale.

Premier Benefits

  • Exceptional Retirement Package: Retirement plans with employer matching. Combined, the organization contributes up to 8% of your eligible pay toward your future.
  • World-Class Healthcare: Access comprehensive preventive care and specialty medical services through an exclusive provider network.
  • Generous Paid Time Off: Enjoy up to 5.5 weeks of PTO per year, plus 7 paid holidays, with unique options to buy or sell PTO days to fit your schedule.
  • Tuition Assistance: Benefit from up to $6,000 per academic year in tuition reimbursement, plus exclusive tuition discounts at over 30 partner colleges and universities to support your professional engineering growth.
