DEPARTMENT: Advanced Programs

REPORTS TO: Chief Engineer, Advanced Programs

POSITION SUMMARY: Performs electronics system engineering, RF fuze testing, and vendor technical coordination in support of electronic fuze production and development programs. Responsible for establishing and sustaining electronics test capabilities, integrating electronic fuze assemblies into new weapon platforms, and representing AMTEC across government and vendor technical forums.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Serves as AMTEC's electronics system engineering representative across all program forums, including fuze board reviews, vendor design reviews, and government technical interchange meetings. Acts as the primary point of contact for electronics fuze matters within the organization.

2. Completes DEVCOM sponsored formal training and qualification for electronics fuze board level testing. Develops proficiency in test methods, acceptance criteria, and diagnostic techniques for electronic fuze assemblies. Applies acquired knowledge to establish and sustain electronics fuze test and evaluation capabilities at AMTEC. Travel to Picatinny Arsenal, NJ, and other DEVCOM sites is required; training may involve multiple multiday sessions per year.

3. Performs and oversees testing of electronic fuze assemblies in support of a USG production program for a government designed proximity fuze, including board level functional testing, RF performance verification, power source characterization, detection sensitivity, environmental screening and qualification testing, and acceptance testing per government defined procedures. Works directly with production personnel to execute test procedures, interpret results, troubleshoot failures, and disposition nonconforming hardware.

4. Leads the electronics system engineering portion of R&D efforts to adapt and integrate an existing government electronic fuze design for a new application. Owns system level electronics performance and is responsible for obtaining the necessary technical information from vendors, USG engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure successful integration.
