About the opportunity
Location: Remote (with week in-office requirement, 1-2 days a week)

Position Overview: SWCA is seeking a talented and detail-oriented Temporary Accounting Specialist to support our corporate accounting and finance team. In this role, you will assist with various accounting and compliance activities. The ideal candidate will possess critical thinking skills, attention to detail, strong organizational abilities, and excellent communication skills.
This is a full-time, Temporary, hourly position.
Application deadline: Our team will begin reviewing applications immediately, and interviews will be scheduled with qualified candidates on a rolling basis. The application process will remain open until we have received a robust pool of qualified candidates. Once we have identified suitable individuals, we may close the application process without prior notice. What you will accomplish
  • Assist the fixed asset acquisition and disposal process including monthly processing related to transfers and depreciation
  • Assist the oversight of the vehicle registration and titling
  • Assist with transactional tax compliance related to sales and use, personal property, unclaimed property, and tracking state income tax filings
  • Manage business license renewals, including maintaining a business registration database
  • Oversee Secretary of State filings
  • Collaborate with operations administrative staff and management
  • Support various requests as needed
  • Enter and post occasional cash receipts including checks from lockbox and electronic funds transfers (EFTs)
  • Contact customers regarding unidentified checks or missing remittance advice, maintaining related reconciliations
  • Work with Senior Client Accounting Analyst, Accounting Clerk, and Accounting Specialist and assist when needed
  • Post cash application adjustments as necessary
  • Process customer refunds and related reconciliations
  • Maintain on-account customer deposits and related reconciliations
  • Weekly cash report compilation and internal distribution
  • Assist with various requests as needed related to payments and invoices, communications, and research
  • Work with Managers for special requests regarding credit reports, payment research, and reporting from ERP

Experience and qualifications for success
  • Minimum High School diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Minimum one (1) year of accounting or administrative experience or other relevant experience
  • Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite including excel
  • Strong organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail
  • High speed home Internet connection

Preferred Qualifications:
  • (2) years of accounting or administrative experience or other relevant experience
  • Ability to appropriately prioritize tasks, work independently, and meet deadlines
  • Ability to follow established department procedures
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to represent the company externally and internally in a positive and professional manner
  • Ability to build and maintain positive, service-oriented relationships with the team, external and internal customers, and other SWCA team members
  • Willingness to engage in various types of tasks and learn new skills to support the team as needs arise
